What's A Fair Split

Hello fellow farmers!

Theoretically, if you already had a spot you were satisfied with, but a friend offered to front you whatever moola you needed to open up another one - what do you feel a fair split would be? Given he doesn't lend a hand at all with the growing, just with the initial building of the room.

Would you ask for their name to be on the lease and does that make a difference? Does the fact you could fund and get another spot yourself in near future (less than 4 months) make a difference on the split you ask for?

I wouldn't get involved at all!partnering up is a recipe for disaster . iv seen totally decent reasonable people who were best freinds for decades,become totally unreasonable and outright nasty causing a permanent fall out between the two freinds . just because one felt he deserved more of the harvest for whatever reason and the other guys thinking he deserves more also . They became very bitter about it . and these were reasonable people . when they thought they were being taken as a fool(which neither was)they changed completely . I have also seen BROTHERS falling out for same reason . and theyr brothers . I'm not saying you would definitely have this problem,but it's always a possibility . there was a guy on here a few weeks ago asking for advice because his partner turned against him at harvest and took all his plants . all I'm saying is beware who you team up with .people like to try to change the deal youv made months after making it. But if your going to go ahead and it's his grow room and gear and you just use your expertise I would say 50/50 . but it's just a matter of opinion . It really depends on what the other guy brings to the table.(size of grow room how well its equipped?)I mean if it's a small room with one or two lights and not set up well then y should he get half?its hardly worth your while then . But if it's a decent sized room....

Id let him down gently and just tell him your gonna focus on your own shit got enough on your plate, and that he should start his own grow if he really wants something to happen.

maybe I'll sound like a rusty l grump for saying so but coming from twenty years experience..........
avoid partnering up on any mj growing operation forany split it always ends tough at best......
now you can say do a bro a favor and help him with a grow in exchange for a favor but no partners no split
growing is a solo hobby and with partners someones always along for the ride or um lmfao the smoke........
I've seen it all lots a buddies ya'd never imagine start getting steady income in develop coke n pharma habits fast, pussy drama, ego melt downs you name it put wed between a friendship and it will happen.
Now that's not to say weed don't make good friends either ya just gotta handle it wit a slow hand ....
I like to share when I can nowadays no strings attached it breaks the monster of the green rush's back and forces the ever greedy starving serpent to turn and eat itself.............better yet seriously pack up a ziplock and just GIVE a sack to a ol schooler who needs it........ it feels good and the "evil" or dark cloud that follows are precious hobby hates it believe me.

Yes I agree with dabbie and colostoney.(hey col) just tell the guy your willing to HELP him do the grow and you will pop round weekly to check up.tell him what to do ,how to do it ect and if it turns out well he can give you a wee bit of smoke at harvest as a thank you if he wants.(don't rely on it though)then that way your not putting your friendship at stake . He has his which belongs to him and you have yours which belongs to you . simple.

Yeah id offer to help him get setup and help thru out his grow in exchange when it comes time to trim my shit he comes over and helps trim..

Fair trade for helping each other.. or something similar ya'll can figure out a trade but its best for him to get setup and grow his own..

It's a rare thing for a team up to be totally problem free...but I have seen people on here have successful team ups(so far) but theyr few and far between.

I dont have a big enough space to grow enough to give away a zip lock full but I always give it away no strings attached(except don't go running your mouth you got it from me)and IF I need to pay for something to do whith my grow I will sell it to one of the freinds I usually just giv it to for a discount(although I don't really like charging these guys) . theyr always happy to help me out in that respect . I guess they know when theyr onto a good thing . not everyone does though . most people just want as much as they can no matter what . I avoid having people like that in my life . I have to feel like I can say No when I want to without someone trying to blatantly manipulate me for more.

I would come to an agreement before you get started on what's expected percentage-wise. If you can't see eye-to-eye with them, don't take their money.

That doesn't work either drewski . Everyone's all smiles and handshakes when they agreed to a certain split but most people who don't know how to grow will have a totally unrealistic idea of how much theyr expecting to get . example.-:Joe & Jim team up on a grow . Joe does the growing and supplys the good genetix only,everything else is up to jim,covering cost supplying whatever Joe needs to grow and they agree on a 50/50 split . Joe tells him he can get, say for talking sake,450 dry grams fro each light and they have 4 lights . so jins happy to agree to that . After a few weeks of sinking in $ after $ into the grow Jim starts getting wee bit agreived about what he,s doing for the grow compared to Joe who only puts in time and effort which isn't worth as much in jims eyes.maybe he asks a "freind" how much to expect from 4 lights and he says 600 grams per light one gram per watt . easy . That has Jim starting to think he,s getting ripped off when obviously he isn't so when Joe needs nutrients or soil or ANYTHING that's jims department,Jim grudges getting it and takes ages ect . Now in the meantime Joe is getting pissed at him for not putting in effort or getting what he needs on time as he's pissed at Jim coz jims pissed at Joe and he feels unappreciated. then when harvest comes there's only 350 grams a light when Jim was expecting 450 and thought he was getting ripped off even at that . It's far too much hassle . It would have to be the most easy going guy in the world for it to work IMO.

sounds like everyone has had about the same luck with "partners" that i have. I have seen these things work out but only with an agreed to structure of paying back the money with interest. for example 50% of the harvest till the inital seed money is paid back then 25 % for two additional harvests as the interest. but if you are close to having the $'s anyway then do it yourself or it will drag you to HELL.

agreed. The few times I partnered up with people(small guerrilla grows or large closet grows) I regretted it big time and I'm not the kinda person to expect a lot. As long as I have something in the jars, I'm happy.

Yeah but the only reason that works is coz theyr not partners . that's more or less a loan you speak of.

Same here business partners as friends never works, to much emotion invested, pussy drama is dangerous, he breaks up with his lady somehow it always rains shit on everyone. I have seen a few bad relationships ruin a few good partnerships, and a few good friendships. Stay solo and give freely with an open heart not expecting anything in return.
