I am wondering what everyone's electric bill is each month? Also, list what your are running. I am about 1500watts (true watts) of LEDs, 2 inline fans, and a dehumidifier. My electric bill in the winter is consistently around $170.00 each month (with all my other standard household utilities). Summer time, it is slightly higher with the a/c running.

Between $800-$1k a month running 4 se 600s & a 2.5 ton window ac, 70 pint dh, can fan, wall fans, & controller. Ca kwh power rates are up there, I dont really use the house ac in summer, house is too big to cost efficiently cool the space I hang out in most of the time. I like it hot anyway.

My power bill is low enough where my landlord doesnt charge me extra lol.

250w hps.
600cfm fan
1 box fan.
air stone.
25w seedling light.

like $20-$25 a month for the garden.
Maybe $80-$100 total house in the winter?

One of the reasons i dont want to move away from that size ballast lol.

I haven't done the proper math but I know it's under $100/month and my cost/kw-hour is super high.
Flower:
315 watt cmh runs 12 hours/day
6 inch inline fan with speed controller set on lowest setting 20 hrs/day
2 - 8 inch honeywell stationary fans 24 hrs/day

Veg:
135 watt (actual wattage) viparspectra led (They claimed 300 watts lol) 16 hrs/day

4 inch inline fan with speed controller set on lowest setting 24 hrs/day
one 8 inch honeywell stationary fan 24 hrs/day

I also use two more inline fans during drying days or my whole property (and a few neighbors) would reek lol. One 4 inch right by the exhaust on the dry box and an 8 inch (low setting) in the lung room.

Yeah we have tiers. The first two aren't bad but I think I'm paying like 40cents per kwh once I jump up to the fourth tier lol. I would change to time of use for a cheaper rate but then my daytime rate goes way up. It's a lose lose for indoor growers out here with so cal edison lol.

yah that peak demand rate is brutal here too. We have a massive hydro electric plant about 60 miles away.

running 2x1000w se lamps, fans, dehu etc..
In the winter I'm about $300 per month including household power use for electric heat and lights etc.. My grow accounts for about half of that.

Man we used to get bills like that... My buddy had the power bill in his name so he paid them but I remember he would go to the bank once every other month and lay down like $20000 cash in newly minted 20's to pay the damn power bill... lol. Nobody ever once batted an eye.
I believe we busted the myth that the cops will find you from your big power bill lol. In BC at least. This was pre-legalization.

Generators and diesel fuel would have to be cheaper.

Not as friendly in a residential neighborhood though. Though it did happen. I remember in Surrey BC around 2003 or so a guy a few blocks away got busted when the genny in his garage caught fire. He was powering two buried shipping containers in the backyard lol.

So last year in Northern California I paid $720.00 for the year, nothing funny with the meter but I do have 7,000 Watts of solar PV. We run the A/C in the summer and have a plug in EV (electric car)to boot. So anyone in California especially should add some and get rid of those big bills. My system costs for the solar were in 2012 $20,000 for the panels, rails, supports (I installed the panels, retired electrical contractor), we paid a roofer $8,000 to install the supports after removing all the tiles, replacing the felt, re-installing the tiles and adding ridge vents along all the ridges, I didn’t want to dick around after the panels went in. The system has already paid for itself, in five years.
PS If anyone wanted to use micro-inverters you could scale the system adding more panels every year (to budget your expenses) till you got to the desired production level.

I've always been told pay your bill & the electricity company has no reason to mess with you. You are a customer just like anyone else
