Just got my bill. Its lowest it gets all year. $206 including the perpetual grow and the whole house. In summer with window ac’s and dehumidifiers in the basement it can top $300.

I actually pay by the day so everyday we see our consumption, I run 2 tents with 600 true watts leds fans and a room dehydro. Cost me an extra $1.70 a day so that’s mmmm about 50-60 extra $ a month we run ac year round here well almost!

Yeah we have tiers. The first two aren't bad but I think I'm paying like 40cents per kwh once I jump up to the fourth tier lol. I would change to time of use for a cheaper rate but then my daytime rate goes way up. It's a lose lose for indoor growers out here with so cal edison lol.

Hey add some micro (individual inverter) controlled solar, you don’t have to take care of all your load, just knock the top off, anything you add comes off the top (highest rate).

Yeah you will find power rates are different all across the country.

I do have a couple pro tips for those who could use em. First off some power companies have different rates for different times. Peak hours such as early evening, etc. Are sometimes charged at higher rates. Try calling your power company and ask them if they have peak hour rates and what their peak times are.

Plan your lighting schedule around their peak hours for a nice reduction in your power bill.

Also for those of you who grow in weed illegal states.. Tell your power companies that you heat your home with electric baseboard heaters in the winter and AC in the summer so they dont get suspicious about the high kwh usage. A lot of power companies will disclose your power usage with the local police department if they suspect illegal activity. And/or the police can ask your power company to provide your usage information without hesitation. So try to come up with some sort of excuse to give your power company so they dont get suspicious.

I've said things like the AC and electric heaters. Another good excuse is "I just had 4 people move into my home and that's why my power usage has gone up". Be creative but not obvious. Call in your payment, make small talk with the power company rep. Dont be a mysterious stranger, that always raises suspicion.

PAY YOUR BILL ON TIME. And if you can't, NEVER ignore them. If I know I cant pay my power bill on time, I ALWAYS call in BEFORE it's due and explain that I intend to be late on my payment and when I expect to be able to pay it, in full.

Hope these tips help someone. Good luck and never forget the golden rule of everything. Loose Lips Sink Ships.

I met a guy who worked at the local power company. His job is to go around to peoples houses who complain that their bills are too high and check to see why. He said it is almost always because they use electric heaters. The ones that glow red suck an inordinate amount of energy. I would agree that would be a good excuse.
