As the title reads. I’m confused as to when I was supposed to start counting my flower days. Immediately when I start the 36 hrs of darkness or after that when the lights come on for the first day. It’ll be helpful to know if I’m in day 43 or 45?

When you start counting doesn't matter, it's determining when it's finished that counts. I try and take pictures every few days do I can see when they started to flower and count from there.

I’m not worried about the finish I bought a jewelers loupe for that. I was just curious so I knew for my own schedule. And I knew what the common consciousness was.

The beginning of flowering depends on your definition of flowering. Most folks I know start their "Number of Days" countdown based on the date they turned to 12/12 photoperiod. Others start when they see the first pistils, some when the stretch begins. So... a number of definitions gives a number of starting dates. I base mine on the date of the 12/12 flip, but disregard after that, since each grow and each strain finish differently.

Start counting from the flip. The 36 hours is silly. Pot starts the hormonal change when the length of the night reaches about 10 or 11 hours. More than that simply has no effect on the plant.

Most count from flip this takes you into the stretch that is usually 2-3weeks and considered by most early flower. Mid flower would be dependent on strain. Late flower would be considered the last 2-3 weeks by most.

By most I mean myself

I was skeptical about the 36 hrs myself. But from what I’ve seen and read after the flip plants can be days or even weeks before flowers start to develop. My plant litterally was throwing long white hairs abundantly on the second day the light was on after the flip. It’s like they stretched and started flowering equally. Instead of a focus on stretch with a bit of flower production until stretch is over. I don’t know if the 36 hrs had something to do with it or not. I learned it from a commercial grower in Cali that does light dep. and knows his craft well. He blacks out his hoop houses for 36 hours so I just ran with it. I know a lot of people who do a dark period first and a lot also seem not too. May be one of those things where it don’t really matter or the difference is not noticeable or significant.

Sorry but i disagree. 36h of darkness in beneficial to flower cicle. I was sceptical to but i tryed it in 2 seperet tents. The tent in witch the light was off for 36h started flowering faster. 36h of darknes in a shock to the plant and she knows she needs to start flowering.

This is exactly the reason I was given. The hormonal shock to the plant to immediately start to flower. Instead of possibly easing into it.

I do a 24-36 hour dark period at flip as well. The hormonal build up is especially useful to identify males. They'll show nuts in as little as a day sometimes. By day 3-4 all males are showing sex making it almost impossible to let one go to the point it can polinate
