Well, I start the countdown from day 1 of 12/12, but truly that plant is in "transition" until the focus is no longer on vertical/lateral growth (stretch) and on production of plant material and oil development at the node sites.

Pretty sure every single breeder out there, me included, starts flowering at 12/12 flip. When I say a 60-70 day strain, I mean from 12/12 flip. Not first sight of buds or anything else. Purely 12/12 flip. That is how I have interpreted flower for the last 20+ years.

Well said!! But there are breeders that dont go by 12/12 flip start. Cannaventure goes by when flowers begin to form and its very misleading. If CV says a strain finishes in 9 weeks, you better plan on it being a 11 week strain.

Let's just all take the different theories on start dates and agree that ultimately, the grower should take into consideration the documented strain specific suggested flower times, but inspect trichome development also to determine when his/her/undecided gardens are ripe. Although, for documentation purposes, I believe the "12/12 flip" has become a solid reference.

Six weeks or so and this blueberry from seed is showing some fuzzy whites. 24/7 light. Even if they aren't autos guess the plant will begin to situate itself for further development, just waiting for that light cycle to trigger it.

Yep, its a good sign of maturity from a seed plant. It should keep popping out preflowers until triggered.
