i grow both ways with and without flush. Clients love the choke and why would I want to lose money starving a plant and hurting it feeding it 0 ppm water. I flush on my own batches because I could care less for the maximum amount of terps but want a smoother smoke that i can actually taste. when you choke you can't taste the weed as good. there's chemical coughing and nice expansion coughing. im into the clean nice expansion type of choke. to me i taste the chlorophyl or whatever is still there when not flushed. just do as you guys please, yalls know what's up. this is my opinion and im a noob.

That guy from strain hunters (arjan?) says unflushed herb tastes bad. He has been smoking longer and has a better palate than I do.

Why is it that new info on a website or podcast is immediately taken as fact? I bought one of Dr Harley Smith's products; the dude has misspellings on the package.

Completely agree but on the other side. Why do people read stuff like flushing will remove any fertilizer that is currently in your flowers and immediately take it as fact?

Honestly, I think it's a combination of having heard that for decades from old school hippy growers along with some just parroting what they've read from others. Usually newbs that don't know any better and assume whatever information is being doled out to them must be valid.

Some may feel there is a difference, and to them I say flush away, but I try and stay away from anecdotal claims and stick to results that have been derived through controlled experiments. Granted, taste and potency, to a large degree, is personal but almost everyone I know that has done a serious side by side has come to the same conclusion I have. Doesn't make a difference. Science says the same thing.

New Research Shows Flushing Plants Before Harvest May Be Unnecessary

In a blind taste test, researchers have found that many prefer cannabis that has not been flushed before harvest.

i think studies may have variables. Was chlorophyll content tested? maybe that's what i'm trying to rid when I flush, i have no idea. but i know im a damn detailed smoker in terms of scents, effects, and taste. we don't know how long they waited before the samples were tested. To me if you have enough time you can cure unflushed herb to be the same as flushed. but if we are talking about smoking samples right when you bag them for cure and say the first 10 days of the curing process, there's a difference to me. we also know that people tend to think potency is from that chemical choking, so i can see why the masses may think that. I believe that chlorophyll content is that chemical choke. you ever over fertilized herb, its hard to get the chlorophyll to flush out. you know what over fertilized herb taste like, like the chemicals are locked in it but truly its the chlorophyll not being able to be flushed out.

The strange thing is that i look after both of them the same way but only this one is getting leaves like this. No, i havent used calmag because i read that if you grow in soil you dont need it. Only coco growers add this nutrition. Is that right, or?
I feed them 2 ml of each : micro, grow and bloom Advanced nutrients brand. It says 4 ml on the label but i read that with autos it was always better to half the amount given on the label..

Mine are autos. The onw on the firat picture (the darker one) is even a fast bud and it said on the pack that it should be ready in 8 weeks… and 8 weeks already passed but i also think it needs a couple of more. The first picture is Banana purple punch. The second one is classic - Purple haze.

With autos they’ll make a batch and test a lot of the batch to get a good number for flowering to harvest time. Also the breeder could be harvesting when the trichomes are cloudy not amber. Maybe out of 50 when the breeder tested 10 will finish at 8 weeks the rest at 10 weeks. To sell it they’ll put 8 to 10 weeks on the pack and people won’t pay attention to up to 10 weeks.

So when I get autos I disregard the timeframe it’ll say by automatically adding a couple weeks to my expected time so I’m not disappointed it took so long. If I do 20 autos maybe 4 will finish in 8 weeks the rest take 10 or 11. The 4 that finished quick finish normal. The ones that took awhile pushed new white hairs outta healthy pistols so I waited for them to mature. I could’ve just ignored the new pistol growth and chopped when the first four were ready but there would’ve been a weight loss.

Here’s some common sense.

The entire Plant as a whole from the start of growing to finish, is literally made up entirely of nutrients in the medium. Plant matter IS what it feeds from. Flushing does nothing but washes out the medium itself. The plant is done growing.

I distribute/donate 10-12lbs of bud per year. I’m consistently told the product taste is always excellent.

I don’t “Flush”. However, I stop using nutrients in the last week, because it’s non beneficial at that point. Sometimes I don’t though. It just doesn’t matter. Period.

Farms don’t flush food crops. Nature doesn’t flush plant life.

Yeah. The left one has always had more foliage. The right one has always been boldier. They have 2 days difference and are at the end of week 9 from seed. Tomorrow starts week number 10. About the right boldy one - it is a fast auto bud so its supposed to be ready by now or soon but the hairs are not all brownish yet. I have to order the loop tonight..

I do not flush for the buds ,just the roots ..
1 Plant will use about 15 to 18 gallons every 4 to 5 days,
When I change the water in the reservoirs As I am pumping the left over water out I am spraying in about 5 gallons of tap water.
Guess its a mini flush . but I have 20 gallons mixed and PH waiting to be pumped in as some as the plants reservoir is empty .
I have big sprayers inside on the roots thought is trying to keep 100% RH inside the reservoirs.
