Where's the sportsman?

Good morning. Just seeing what kind of info I can get on here. I want to head to Higgins lake and ice fish. I have fished it in the summer a few times and landed a few lake trout just eaters nothin big. I was there on 4th of July and saw the biggest pike I've ever seen. While there I was told the fishing is 10 times better in the winter. I've been ice fishing 3 times in my life and never caught 1 fish thru the ice. But I plan to change that streak this year. Also I want to try the sag. River cuz it's close to home and I know that a lil better as I fish it from a boat till she closes up. And hell if n e one is tearin em up out there post a pic. This was a friends attempt to get me on the bay

Hit the baitshop on the south end and they'll steer ya right. A lot of eye's up there and jumbo perch but you can get that on the bay.

Thanks for the info. We have a place on the west side and have always headed to the north side. Looks like i need to hit the south end. Ive only been in one party stire / bait shop and his info was profound. "Their in the water" And his prices redicolous I have nothing against the bay. I just don't have a snowmobile to run out 5 miles. I plan on hitting higgins the week of the 18-22. And I have a sled lined up for the trip.

Sorry about that bro,was thinkin Hubbard lake. Fish around Treasure island or the Sunken Island. Google ice fishing forums, a couple have michigan forums and you get up to date info straight from those out there.

I've been on mi sportsman forums but the Higgins lake info gets passed only via pm. The locals are very tight lipped. For some reason.

That sounds great HK. I've never river fished for steel head or salmon. Closest I've came was a charter out of ludington. My wife bought me wadders for Christmas so I'm ready to do some serious fishin. I haven't decided which day I'm going but I will be headed to Higgins lake sometime between 18-25 of this month. Ill shoot you a pm when I have details.
