Hi everyone. New member here, very long time lurker (20 years maybe). I have been growing cannabis my whole life but the last five years I have been almost solely focused on growing gourmet and functional mushrooms.

I currently own two businesses operating in the mushroom space and I want to put it out there that I love helping others get started.

Who is growing mushrooms? Or aspiring to? Let's be friends.

Andrew.

They're trippy, probably the best I've tried so far. And now I'm envious.
If you can ever find enigma it is my favorite. Cross between penis envy and b+ looks like a brain.

Glad to stumble on this thread. I haven't delved into it yet but did have plans in the back of my mind to cultivate some white velvet at some point in the near future. Biggest hesitation for me is getting hold of spores without worrying about postal inspectors showing up at my door 5am to arrest me.

I started learning gourmet mushroom techniques a few months ago. Still getting it down.

Finished some pink oyster and lions mane. Have some reishi going now, and some blue oyster and winecap spores on the way.

Also have some golden teacher spores waiting.

Yeilds so far have been pretty low, and got my first infection last weekend. But learning!

I get my spores from a guy in Michigan. If you're interested in his info, let me know. Great guy. I usually buy 2 or 3 gourmet syringes and one for "microscopy" purposes. Make a liquid culture of the gourmet over 2-3 weeks. Then spawn up the liquid culture. By the time they're ready, I'm pretty confident someone would have stopped by to ask, and I've got mushroom bags of legal stuff going in case someone does.

For some reason, and I have no idea why, but I have zero paranoia or anxiety about mushrooms going, but growing cannabis keeps me up at night.

I'm in California so I'm more worried about the tag I tore off my mattress than the weed growing out in the yard.

What kind are they?

Some mushrooms prefer to fruit from the sides, some from the top, others from all over.

It’s z stain this is as far as I’ve ever got a bag to go without getting weird colors in the white stuff there’s just a small amount on top that’s not white yet I can’t find anything about how it likes to fruit idk if I should just let it be or cut top of bag and mist water ?

They usually will fruit from all over. But it's usually easiest to fruit it right in the bag by cutting the top off.

If you have a monotub to fruit in, put it there. If not, find a place that gets good air flow and high humidity, with a little bit of light and room temp. A clear Tupperware container or something, with the lid askew, misting two or three times a day while exchanging air, works fine. I hang some fruiting bags in one of my terrarium grow areas that has orchids and nepenthes. The mushrooms dig the humidity, air exchange and temps. The orchids dig the CO2.

Most wait until you find pin formations.

They’ll be small points that are a little more yellow in the center of the white mass. That’s the colony telling you it’s ready to fruit.
