I thought this was the case in pretty much all industries/trades/professions. It's not just what you know, or not as much as who you know.I saw too many hand outs in the business world to the wrong people, watching people climb the employee ladder just because they were in the good ol' boys club with no accounting for actual work done. Got sick of busting my ass 70 hours a week, to watch the lazy boss's nephew get the promotion. I worry about this in the cannabis industry. No chance of moving up into a desirable position unless you are already in the club, work hard get ignored, work harder, then watch the lazy ass get ahead just because he and managment play grab ass all day and like the same sports teams. Am I wrong?
I am getting to be of the opinion that running your own thing instead of going to work for someone else is the only way to go
https://hemptemps.com/Haha I'm looking for a trimming job, my work in return for a start at something great. If anybody needs a grunt, I'm more than humble enough to do so...trying to find and better myself ultimately. :eyepiece:
Thanks man just have to establish that residency and such to get myself badged...nice site though I appreciate it. And will be using it when I can :) If anyone needs a hand for board for some time, short or long it's your decision, I won't be choosing how long I help, you will. So if I were to get badges etc, even if I were to start doing things a little differently. I won't leave you hanging, the gratitude will keep me there and there for you forever. Not even marijuana based help, I've never been afraid to work
Badges???So if I were to get badges etc, even if I were to start doing things a little differently.
Good luck in your search. I think you are on the right path of just finding any job to get out here. Please keep in mind that denver is frigging expensive and wages have not kept up with the rapid rise in rents. That said, it is an excellent city and the whole state is pretty swell to boot. The massive amount of people moving here means lots of construction jobs, that might be something to look into as a way to get here. I can't imagine many dispensary ops looking outside of the state for workers, so trying to go straight to that type of work may not be the best idea. Thanks man just have to establish that residency and such to get myself badged...nice site though I appreciate it. Let me know if you make your way to Co. All the trimmers Ive run into out here are pure parasites slow as F smoke breaks every 45 mins unless your standing right over them, need rides no cars, need food want you to go buy lunch. dont get me started about this. if your all the things you say you are I would love you to work for me. You be a one man trimming crew. FishI've got friends in cali and oregon who pay me 200/lb to trim. I don't cherry pick, but when you're trimming monster ass buds, when i'm used to speed-trimming tiny buds here in hawaii, it goes fast. Just for shits last time i was on a buddy's farm helping him with everythign but trimming, i decided to trim. Was a 7am-6pm hours only, and i managed to trim a little over 12# in 5.5 days. If i was allowed to work my normal 14-18 hour trim days, i could easily do 3lbs a day. My step brother just got back from norcal, was gone for 40 days, came back with 24k, on top of sending some elbows back home. Maybe you just don't trim as fast as people who really need the money, or have the super motivation. But then again, you don't trim..I've got like 4 current offers a year to come trim. 2 in cali, 1 in medford, and one outside of portland. Dunno what else to say other then, a) I'm many things but a liar is not one of them and b) Maybe some people trim a lot faster then normal trimmers.
I hate bashing people man especially ones idk. Buuuuuut....They obviously don't treat it as they should or as it is then, that sucks. And I'm not criticizing you I'm joining you in criticizing those people. One thinking they deserve more than they do, and two taking what they are doing and have for granted and not serious. All the ones with brains to do more than just trim do so tho obviously ;) and I'm definitely not looking to just do that but in a bully world my ass needs to start there regardless if I've done it enough times I don't like it lol. It's a different game though legally, I'll always offer a hand to those who need it though so I'll never be too good to trim because I'll do it for anyone with a heart.Let me know if you make your way to Co. No for sure man, I'm young yet too. Good comparison too, I've done telephone lines since I was 18. I consider myself a lineman now and have worked at multiple places, and when I go into these places I go in as the new guy so I'm personally really shy and too myself/anxious. No matter if I know I'm good at what I do haha, and have nothing to worry about and know I'm valuable. And with that you have the elders/old heads who have done it all their lives and in a sense you are in the same position as them but below us would be a groundhand. I never slack to pick up and do the task considered for those to do, if there's a groundhand present or if it's just me and another guy of my position, I always help everyone and try to take the most to make it easier on the old guys out of respext. Those my age in the same position I expect more from so I'm not as assertive but I'll still do the shit, because you always get / most of the time get guys my age with expierence as well who get these big ass heads and act like their these old heads! And deep down everyone can't stand him / doesn't respect those people because it's just bad ethic. Pretty much saying they expect you regardless to do what they need you know ? Trimming is one of those things in this sense. Speaking from me personally and my age etc. It's the same thing, people will see you more valuable if you're willing to do whatever. And without fuss.Yea man, from what I see people look down on trim work but it's just like anything else. Let's say a person joins the electricians Union, and they have a ton of experience doing electrical work. They're still going to be starting out doing bottom level grunt work, is what it is.
I may be going to work for a Rec grow here in Oregon, I've known the head grower for years and the foot in the door is still in the trim room. And, frankly, I'd be stoked to do it.
Best of luck in your endeavors, apologies if this comes across as a bit of a ramble.

I work in Oregon for a well known rec grow. I have worked for 3 different growers as well as myself over the years. I am educated and have experience growing cannabis for my moms medical marijuana for over five years.Yea man, from what I see people look down on trim work but it's just like anything else. Best. Scene. EVAH!Badges???
Really??
Do you think your sex plays a role in that at all? I've been focusing on how new canna-business can help bring women parity in the workplace with men, and on one hand it seems totally doable. On the other hand, examining other aspect... long row to hoe.I must say with my experience I am looked down upon by my company who sees younger employees more favorable for climbing the employment ladder. What you said about hiring young, impressionable employees is 100% true and it's the same as the adage "you can't teach an old dog new tricks."
I doubt ull be in the trim rm very long, hank. Ya got skills.Yea man, from what I see people look down on trim work but it's just like anything else.
