good evening, I made pollen and sifted it at 120. to press it I used the hot bottle method. Why does the smoke burn and turn black instead of boiling when I hold the lighter? Thank you

Hopefully you mean kief rather than pollen? Simple answer is it contains lots of contaminants, maybe plant matter, maybe stalks rather than heads.

because what's the difference? it's the same here ahahaha... yes kief, I use the secret smoke... shouldn't the 120 filter out all the trichomes or waste material? do you recommend using a tighter mesh? because seen by eye it seems clean...

Pollen is produced by the male plant as part of the reproductive cycle and contains male gametes. depending on the variety, environmental factors and ripeness, trichomes will vary in size greatly. When making hash I use multiple screens sometimes 120 produces high quality resin and sometimes it requires a tighter mesh. 70-150 seems to be a nice rage to capture most if not all the heads.

Because it has too much contaminate in it! If you want the pure stuff, then you have to clean your sift! So all you have left our heads! You don’t want a bunch of green plant material mixed in with your heads or you get what you get! I’m surprised you could press it at all ! It usually just flakes and falls apart with too much contaminant! In my opinion, cleaning your sift is the most important part! And it’s probably the hardest! You clean it using static electricity! Sometimes it’s tough to come by the right conditions! But it can be done if you’re patient!

I have the washing machine at 150, and I sift with a brush or a piece of plastic in the 00 120 micron mesh... in my opinion it's clean to the eye, I repeat, can I send a video here?

You should be able to send a video! But if it is charring it still has too much shit in it! Not to say you can’t smoke that and get a good buzz! But it is just low to mid grade! If that! It’s probably easier to smoke dirty hash! The good stuff will clog up screens! Unless you more or less dab it. if you are bubble washing, it probably wouldn’t hurt to look up this thread and scroll through it!

I’ve never used a pollen separator! I go with four screens and then clean! But 150 µm is the equivalent of 100 mesh US! And in my opinion 100 mesh is going to let a lot of plant material through with it! Your stuff is Still pretty crumbly suggest a lot of contaminant! The puck doesn’t look bad, but you can make some pretty contaminated stuff into a puck by using a lot of pressure! If cleaned correctly, you should be able to put your clean sift into cellophane and press it by hand with a wine bottle containing boiling water! If it’s quality, it will immediately melt and when you are through rolling the bottle over it, you throw it in the freezer for a few minutes, then pull it out and strip the cellophane off! Then you can work the hash like taffy! It pretty much has the consistency of taffy is all I can come up with! So you work it and fold it and pull it and work it and fold it and pull it and you wind up with full melt hash or close to it! I don’t know the quality of material you are starting with or maybe you are running the separator too long but it looks like you are getting too much contaminant and it needs to be cleaned manually for best results! I’m sorry, man, but that’s the best I can come up with! I have never gotten real top quality by just sifting alone! That gets you in the ballpark, but you still have to clean the contaminant out in my opinion and that requires certain environmental conditions, mainly cold and low humidity! In my book sifting is a winter sport! Maybe someone else will chime in that is more familiar with separators! I know I’m not much help to you, but don’t give up! Sifting and bubble washing requires a lot of material to get anything out the other end! And the condition of that material and the quality of that material can have a huge difference on the results! help me Mr. wizard! maybe Gnick we’ll see this and offer an opinion! I use a Loupe to inspect the sift! Makes it easy to see how dirty it is! Or clean!

yes, 150 is not good and is the darkest kief in the video, the cylinders and the flat one (this is why I used the hot bottle method) are 120 microns. But maybe you're right, because I put the washing machine on maximum power considering that I practically only put in trichomes and they come down more easily than the leaves...

Like using a balloon and good paintbrush to dry sift

I actually tried using balloons to generate static electricity to nitrile glove clean! Didn’t work for me! If it’s 30° out and you get shocked when you touch a door knob then it’s time to get out and clean! Lol! If you can feel your fingers, it’s too warm!

Can I just use the balloon? Could you explain in a few words how it works or show me a video? I think I roughly know the procedure.

I just used the balloon to rub my glove hands on to try and generate electricity! I haven’t used it to clean! I try and clean when the conditions are right just using a nitrile glove! Check out this thread! And on page 45 he starts the sifting procedure with some gelato! Eventually, he will get to the cleaning aspect with the glove! Conditions are a big part of it! You have to wait till they are right!
