If you put them out side in early to mid May , They will start budding. and will not get back to growing till June.I started my ladies 4 and 5 weeks ago. They will be going outside as soon as possible, most likely early to mid May. Today some of them enjoyed a few hours in the sun getting acclimated. I'll be doing some topping and training in the near future.
Yeah I'm hoping to keep them till almost June if they have the space. I started them the first of March. Can't wait too long here, it's usually snowing by October. If you put them out side in early to mid May , They will start budding. and will not get back to growing till June.
When you put them outside too early you lose weeks of growing time. It's how long the light hours are that makes them veg. If you put them out with short light hours they will start budding. You must wait till early June before you put them out. If you don't they start budding, then as the light hour increase they will start veg. You lose 3-4 weeks veg growing . Makes for smaller plants.Yeah I'm hoping to keep them till almost June if they have the space. I started them the first of March. Can't wait too long here, it's usually snowing by October.
Yes I understand that they switch to flower as soon as I take them off thier current light cycle and put them out if it's before summer sun, but there's not much I can do if I don't have the space, and I fear they won't have time to mature if I wait too long. Last year I was out covering plants from frost for weeks and that's not my idea of fun. When you put them outside too early you lose weeks of growing time. How soon you put them out has nothing to do with when they will mature. The amount of hours of light tell the plant when to start budding. You can add light hours to make them stay in veg. Use a 1000 watt light. I NEVER harvest till Nov. The last two weeks are the most important, that is when the oil is made. If you harvest early you will not get full oil sacks.Yes I understand that they switch to flower as soon as I take them off thier current light cycle and put them out if it's before summer sun, but there's not much I can do if I don't have the space, and I fear they won't have time to mature if I wait too long. Yeah they're not going out anytime soon, and if they don't outgrow the space, they can stay through May. Also it's usually winter here in November, nothing makes it past mid October without assistance most years. I've always put them out late may and never noticed anything funky, but I'm no expert .Highly likely they might be triggered in to prematurely flowering this early. The May 24th long weekend is generally accepted for planting outdoors over here.
