The previous owners, in a fit of fear over falling trees, cut down some 100-year-old shade trees. I'm thinking of putting a couple of our wooden barrel planters on them - they're flat and level - to grow part of our crop. Botanically, I can't think of reason not to. The trees were cut down ten years ago and there's no fungus growing on the stumps. Anyone have a reason not to that I'm missing? Thanks and, as always, a tip of the hat.
It sounds like a wonderful gardening idea. I haven't thought of a reason not to do it. The light and drainage should be good. I don't know how the roots would respond to a wooden pot. I've never tried it.
