Like Anita said. 3 times max.
Why 3 times max?

@303 DUB Ya, use away. Do you recall were you final ppms and pH were? If they were in the range that's acceptable by new plants then you'll be fine. I just pull all my root balls and use the enzyme to eat what I missed.

What kinds of nutrients do you feed with? If you use chemical salt-based ferts, I would do a slurry test for EC and pH and be ready to flush it well. Beyond that? Reuse the hell out of it, then mix it into soil batches when it's become too fine to reuse safely again.

Interesting thread. I never reuse any of my 'dirt'. I am afraid of anything 'bad' getting into my indoor perpetual garden. However; I do re-use my 'soil' in my outdoor veggie and flower gardens as a supplement to my natural soil.

Note: I no longer use coco. I swithced to Sunshine Advanced Mix #4 with added course perlite in a 3-2 mixture for optimum drainage/water retention in 15 gallon pots.

I've reused Sushine a couple times but after the second the buffer faded and the peats acidity came out so I started incorporating Dolomite lime.

Nothing wrong with re-using as long as you're on top of bugs and using products like Cap's tea and/or enzymes.... I've never had root problems.

^^ That's my experience as well--keep the balance in favor of the 'good' guys and you'll be ok, but you do have to pay attention to things like mineralization and salt build-up.

Not sure about the product 'Cap's tea, but I do use Myco Madness on a regular basis [like every watering].

Adding Dolomite...Isn't the cost of this about the same as purchasing a new log of Sunshine?

Dolomite is dirt cheap... I'm thinking like $10 for a 25lb sack...
And Cap's tea (www.ogbiowar.com) is the strongest beneficial bacteria products I've used/seen. And you can't beat the price!

I use 'Sweet' and I noticed salt build-up [I believe] towards the end game. Thus I switch to water and Catalyst only for the last two weeks as a flush and hardner.

DL is fairly cheap, especially if you buy in bulk.

^^ That 50lb bag is all of $9.99. It's the shipping that'll kill ya! (If you order online.)
Well then...Perhaps I should do a test run. -OR- wait for my first outdoor grow and re-use everything left over from the winter.

Do you monitor your run-off? Salt build up can easily be taken care of with consistent monitoring and flushing agents or enzymes towards the end.

No I haven't started monitoring my run-off. I am afraid I am just a backyard gardner and some of the posts are a wee bit too technical for me. Since I don't seem to have any serious issues, I have not started testing my run off for anything other than PH levels. The use of Catalyst seemed to work just fine and I do use one shot of Hygrozyme during the last two weeks to make sure my plants use every last drop of nutes left in the soil.

I run coco beds and have found that the coco gets better with each run. Ill I do is yank up the root balls and whatever comes up with it. I dont do any special flushing except during the last 2 weeks of flower. The "older" bed always looks better than the "newer" beds. I think it gives the coco a chance to stabilize. Plus, since Im actually adding back the small amount of coco that is removed with the root balls, after 4-5 runs, all the coco in the beds is being replaced.. Similar to doing 25% water changes to your aquarium.
