I have no doubt one or more of these Initiatives will make it to the Ballots
Then, we can let the people decide! :)

I just hope one of them is a good one...

in California, with a September Public Policy Institute of California poll showing 60% of registered voters favoring legalization and an October Tulchin poll that had support for legalization at 65% among likely voters.

FRESNO, California (KFSN) -- Fresno County is a step closer to making growing medical marijuana against the law.
The Fresno County Sheriff's Department raided more than 100 big marijuana farms this year but acknowledged there are about 500 they couldn't get to.

Those untouched farms in the Squaw Valley area are a problem for residents like Norma Jean Onyschuk. She told the board members on Tuesday, "I don't feel safe walking down my street anymore because there's a grow on the next street down from me."
While the law hasn't been able to stop the big operations, the Board voted to put another law on the books. This time, banning the growing of all marijuana, even just a few plants inside a house.

Supervisor Anderas Borgeas believes even though state law allows for medical marijuana use the county can stop it. "You do not have a right to smoke marijuana or to have medically based access to marijuana."

Many in the audience, like county resident Ray Wells strongly disagreed. "There is no way you should be able to tell us that we cannot grow 6 plants within the confines our own home."

A parade of medical marijuana users appealed to the board not to impose a ban.

Construction company owner George Boyadjian told the board he uses marijuana for pain relief from injuries suffered in a traffic accident. "Cannabis is the main thing I use for my condition and I would urge the board to not take that away from me and not make me into a criminal."

Supervisor Judy Case, who is a Registered Nurse, said there are other alternatives. "There are quite a few drugs available by prescription."

A recent study shows prescription pain killer abuse is a leading cause of death in this country.

Another just released study by the Field Poll shows 56 percent of Californians support the decriminalization of the use and cultivation of marijuana, as Washington and Colorado have already done.

But the Supervisors were unanimous in their position that robberies of marijuana farms and shootings have created a crime problem and are a public nuisance.

Attorney Brenda Linder argued that the reason there is a public safety problem is because the ban on marijuana, like the ban on alcohol decades ago, leads to crime. "As we know from history, anytime there is prohibition crime actually increases. It doesn't decrease and we've seen that happen here as well."

And Michael Green said banning indoor growing will not stop those illegal pot plantations. "These cartels and these illegal grows are going to continue. That's what they do it. They are outlaws, the only people you are hurting is people like me, the everyday citizens who comply with the law and lead a lawful life.

But the board was not swayed.

Supervisor Debbie Poochigian said, "We have a public safety issue in all corners of our county."

And Supervisor Borgeas reflected the will of the entire board when he said, "A complete ban on this is in the best interests of the community."

The board had two options, one to limit marijuana growing to an indoor setting with a few plants. The other to ban both indoor and outdoor. Since the board members felt the definition of indoor, being within four walls and a roof could mean a plastic tent, they decided to go for the complete ban.

Under the ordinance it would be like a zoning violation to grow medical marijuana anywhere in the county, and civil, not criminal offense.

The board gave preliminary approval to the marijuana ban at Tuesday's meeting. They will take a final vote on January 7th.

Thanks for that Ali Gee!

They are going to do what they want...the hearings are just a formality..

I don't want my neighbors to feel unsafe though.

This is the Facebook cover photo of that lady that said "I don't feel safe walking down my street anymore because there's a grow on the next street down from me."

Once they have a ban in place they go after you civilly by using code enforcement just like they did with dispensaries.Imposing civil fines up to 1500$ a day and liening your property if you dont pay, even if you are just renting they will go after the property owner until he deals with you and evicts you in court and they could give a damn if you even knew what was going on.
We also have a very good friend who works for edison in the front office and he tells us ALL the power companies in cali are under attack by law enforcement to turn over smart meter info on energy usage,so far they have kept them at bay but not for long as the power companies are getting tired of spending boat loads of cash litigating and at the same time are mandated to help bring power consumption down so who do you think they will throw under the bus first?

And the skin gets so dry....could never make it through a dry CO winter myself, so I'll stay here.

I use oven bags. I can keep weed in the zone for months...and regularly do. Coming from the Midwest/God-awful humidity... I don't miss it one fuckin bit and will never live in such a swelter again.

In the end....I can rehumidify my buds but I can't get rid of the traffic/sprawl/crappy air/too many people.

Talk about a buzzkill....

Have you been to northern cali? There are more dirt roads here than any other part of this country...we have so much open land...check the state park list...

Got incredible air/water and no people with a serene view of redwoods n creeks in my backyard. I'd say we are both happy but don't say traffic/sprawl/crappy air/too many people cause it only applies to the cities of Cali for the most part.

I love my fresh ocean/redwood cleaned air, you love your frozen sunnyness!

Watch this spread throughout the state like wildfire. I can name three counties in the foothills that likely will want to follow suit, and I wouldn't be surprised if more of some of the best growing regions in the state follow suit. Just watch it happen. Sit back and watch, or run away, or get involved and do your best to make a change... hmmm... Well, I know what I would do. :D

Right now I'm sitting here seriously considering whether or not I'll pick up the torch again should the issue come up in my county. Knowing me, I will absolutely make myself heard, even if it doesn't garner the end results I'm after.

Sadly sea......a whole buncha folks don't see the fact that none of these legalization measures are being set in place to benefit anyone but the corporate interests. the move in the future will e to damn home grows as tainted and eventually...outlaw them so folks have to again break the law (which will get more teeth ecause now, the GOVT will e losing cash by you growing your own) or buy weed from the STATE.

We need to keep a list of all the names of the folks who are "commercial"...and when this all goes south...kill them first.

:D

I'm absolutely positive that had Seamaiden and I not spoken up, that the COMPLETE ban on outdoor cultivation would have been made permanent, so that being said....We did effect a change. Did we get everything we desired? Nope, but we got them to lift the complete ban on cultivation.. Meanwhile, Seamaiden and I will continue to "fight the fight". At least we can say that we did something.

You folks who leave the dirty work to others while throwing up your hands in defeat...Well....just keep doing that and tell me how that works out for you

It works great for 'em, dave...they just moved to CO/somewhere else that it's easier and fuck up the game there...then (like a fracker) they will move somewhere else when it becomes more profitable without a care in the world as to what they are leaving behind. They are users >of< change....not the folks who make the changes.
