I hear it's hell and then I hear it's great.

I'm from a nonlegal state and have some experience. I guess I'm like a lot of people and want to quit my job and move out to Cali and grow. I have some decent connections that could help.

Is it just too risky these days or is there still money to be made?

Not that risky , depending on where and how much you grow. Not much $ in it anymore . not a good time to start growing as there is a real water shortage. Most people I know are cutting back this year because of fear there wells will run dry. Most cities are on meters and prices for water will be soring.

My advice is, go to Co. instead!
Welcome to the Farm though! :)

Simply because it's rec legal there?

It sounds like it's becoming a very small club to be apart of, or at least the guys who make enough money now.

If you are already a really good grower with good genetics (og kush, cookies) and can get them to yield out really well AND have a dispensary lined up that will buy them for hopefully 28-30 you might be able to make a little money. If you have never grown before and aren't financially set to start out big, well.......good luck

California is a wonderful place. The weather, politics, geography, and culture all make it one of the most desirable places on earth so I understand why you want to move over. As for growing what are your goals? To be a baller? Make a living? Have fun and or learn? My best suggestion is to come here and take things slowly. It's best to use growing as a learning experience and supplemental income. On the other hand if your here to shoot for the stars that's possible too just a risky venture.

If you will still have connects in your home state you can use them to get rid of your weight. Every county/ city is different as far as growing goes. I happen to live in an area where just about anything goes. Every third yard seems to be blown in the summer and nobody cares unless the ocupants are gang affiliated. Do your homework and find the best area you can afford that isn't completely anti-weed. Oh and bring your A game cuz bammer brick weed doesn't move anymore. I love this state, it has it's faults but NOBODY has a thing on us.

I'd restrict it to Norcal only... If you're hoping to find anything near "relaxed". So-cal is definitely not as liberal as most tend to believe *IMO*. Greedy bastards..

If you can't make enough off your growing in a non-med state to quit your job, your going to be devoured in a med state like Cali, CO, or WA..growing twice as much for half the money usually doesn't work out great unless your really on your game...

I would listen to the other folks, I think too many people have big dreams of moving out to cali and becoming a grower yet they don't really know how to grow hahaha

If you are an excellent grower and have managed big ops maybe consider it, if not don't even think about it way to expensive to live here.

Having spent over 30yrs in SoCal and the past 10 in NorCal, I am compelled to disagree with you, even with regard to the Orange Curtain to which I lived I so near. It is far more liberal than where I am now, astonishingly so.
you know what I miss about cali the most, the good ol 405 :-D
Oh COME ON. :p You jest. You jest! You read about the trail of mummies found along the 405 (right?)--all stuck in traffic, died, and no one came to tow 'em out. Very sad, but now their families are able to just prop 'em up in an easy chair. Several had to have their faces painted to take away the expression of rage that became permanently stuck on their faces.

I'm pretty sure they mean NORCAL like mendo/humboldt.....east and north cali is worst than so cal and is basically central cali with it's liberalness....imo

If your waiting for answers in this thread, keep one thing in mind. Cali is more expensive than almost every other state, herb is cheaper than any other state, power is more than most states, water is more than most states, gasoline is more than most states, housing is more....food is more...weed is cheap...

There is money to be made where you are NOW, risky = money. No risk = Cali = high prices for everything but weed...think it over..I'd never move to cali to grow and I"m born and raised here...

Ah. Yet that comprises such a small part of NorCal. Did you read that Siskiyou is now also moving to address cultivation more strictly?
