California medic marijuana card for disabled Iraq vet

Hey guys,

Well for some time now, I said screw all the pills the v.a gave me and decided to go back to my old good gal Mary Jane. Let me just give you a little background I was taking medicine for everything started with one pill for pain and took off from there because of side effects. I ended up taking about 30 pills a day I might be exaggerating by a few but I lost count. I started with medicine for pain, side effects for that were insomnia, irritability and other worst things then I got prescribed medicine for insomnia that had serious depression side effects. Combined with medicine for irritability, they had to put me on anti pshicotics. Being that I was taking so much medicine I was constantly severely constipated. And the list goes on and on. Just kept adding them. So I truly do use cannabis for medical reasons, and no more than that. I know I would qualify under the whole medical marijuana criteria, but what can I do to get a medical marijuana card in California? My California drivers license has been expired for some time now.since my retirement I've live in Texas. I would truly appreciate any suggestions or help. I know it's a difficult subject but any help. At all would be great. Thanks guysGod Bless and good karma

Renew ur license or just get a Cali id card. Then schedule an appointment with a canna doctor. Bring him some background medical data - u can request a med history from ur current doc, better yet, have them fax it to the canna doctor of ur choice. Pay the fee, then go to any dispensory in the state. Best feeling in the world is smoking legal for the first time

i think the issue comes with the address. how can i get a ID card if i don't have a permanent address yet?
we keep going back and forth looking at property but haven't found anything yet. can i use any address? being that i don't have any friends or anything out there yet. i know once i settle it can be different but can i do to get one at the moment?

First, welcome to the farm. Second, thank you for your service. Third, as you point out, in order to qualify for a doctor's recommendation, and subsequently the ID card here in California, you need to show you're a resident. There very well may be doctors who don't have that requirement, but IIRC, the Health & Safety code requires them to check ID.

I'm not familiar with the requirements in New Mexico, but that may be a better course to take at this time, until you gain residence in California.

You might be able to get a private mailbox (like a UPS box) in CA, use that address to get a California ID card, and get your recommendation. It would require a trip or two to California.

I would tell the UPS store that you are moving to the state soon and need somewhere to have mail forwarded.

I'm pretty sure it is legal to have a Driver's license from one state and ID cards from another, as long as the name is the same.

What Z said sums it up. And if your legit about your need its very easy for approval. I use medical cannabis for all the same reasons. Best of luck.
