I think cap is using the gavita 1000w remote ballasts dialed down to 600 and driving a standard 600 watt bare bulb vert, you cannot do that with a double ended bulb(yet). These new lamps are double ended 750s just like the 1000 de gavita makes. The problem i have found with the gavita DEs is you need alot of ceiling height, about 3' for the 1000s which means plants have to stay around 5' and thats from the floor so depending on your style it can be an issue but these new 750s may offer some releif from that height restriction and offer better crosslighting while using approximately the same amps, the new lights can also use the new EL lighting controller.

Sounds pretty sick. I could have sworn he was on a thread the other day talking about one of those two sided bulbs or whatever they r. I probably should just do some reading. But I bloom in a 4*4*7.5 agromax tent. I've go a 600watt digital dimmable ballast with a regular socketed bulb. Can u tell me why I would want to change. I'm always down for new tools if they r with it. If u don't feel like typing a ton of stuff I understand bro. Gonna do some research. Thanks bro!

Personally id just roll with what you have in that tent myself,if anything in a tent that size if you wanted to upgrade maybe an air cooled thouie?I dont have much tent growing experience so others could help you more im sure.

Been going for quit a while. Have about every upgrade I think I need for my space. Curious about that style bulb though. Want to know what's different about it. What's a thouie though. I use a hooded cool tube now. Actually for about the last give yrs. Anyway cool as hell. The tube I mean. Get it rite down in there.

I've been keeping a close eye on Gavita's new products, and I found out they just dropped 3 new fixtures. I've only found them on one website so far, and I'll post some links if that's ok.

The first one is the new 750w DE that this post is referring to. It's adjustable from 600/750/825. This is the one I've been most looking forward to:

The next one is an update of their original 300 LEP. The housing is smaller with less cooling fins. I asked a Gavita rep and they said this one is lighter and more efficient at 270 watts, and supposed to have the same light output. Also much cheaper which is nice:

This last one is a 600w double ended fixture. I had no idea this was in the works, because why would they need it when they already have the 600/750? Maybe it's more efficient. For me though, the 750 is perfect. More coverage/intensity than a 600w, but less heat than 1000w. Anyway here it is:

My mistake guys, the new Gavita Pro 600 is NOT double ended, only the 6/750 Flex. This was a typo from Monster Gardens. I've been seeing a lot of mistakes like this on grow shop sites. The guy at Monster Gardens seems to talk out of his ass sometimes and I notice him giving out misinformation even in his videos. I found another site that has a lot more info on the new ballasts.

Anyway I'm very interested in the 750w DE bulb. I'd like to run a couple of these over a 4x8 in Sunlight supply AC/DE hoods. I contacted Gavita to see if the bulbs would run on the classic Pro 1000 remote ballasts, and they seemed to confirm it. I don't know yet if they will have remote pro ballasts like they did with the previous gen.

Message:

The new lamp that is on the market right know is a 6/750W FLEX and is only suitable for the Classic Pro 1000W DE Full Fixture.

This lamp is only suitable for the Pro 6/750e FLEX Full Fixture.

Best regards, met vriendelijke groet,

Which guy? Owner? Ryan?

Anyways, I'm planning on swapping my reflectors next round for 6 AC/DEs... will be perfect for a standard residential 8' ceiling.

It's the guy who is talking in the latest video about these new Gavita lights. He said that because they can run on 120v they give off less heat. It could have been a mistake but I've heard a few other things on his videos that made me cringe. I've seen a couple videos with a guy who I think is the owner and he seems to be more knowledgeable.

Those AC/DE reflectors look tempting

1000w double ended bulb with a Gavita remote ballast
Thats a really good price, seems you and I have the same setup in mind. I was also thinking of doing the same set up you mentioned.

Im getting the new gavita ballast that are coming out. Ill get them in mid June

I really dont get that AC/DE fixture,I dont know why they even put the glass in it?Id throw that shit away. Also some of the de bulbs and ballasts are 120/240v (ushio, digilux de) and Gavita bulbs/ballasts are 400v so im not sure how interchangable they are?

Im pretty sure you can use the 400v in them... I was told the glass may only be necessary if your using it under 8' ceilings and the intensity is still a bit much.

Dude pleeeeease let me know where in the bay your getting quoted 500 a setup for DEs, I will be on my way tom.

Yeah i was speaking more to the bulb and ballast combos, gavita ballast to gavita bulb should be good to go but gavita ballast to ushio bulb or lumatek ballast to gavita bulb might not be ideal as they are designed to run at different voltages 240 vs. 400v.With 8 ' ceilings you need to get your beds/plants as low as possible to give you the right distance from the lights and even then it was not ideal for me with the regular all in one gavita fixtures and 8' ceilings,@Theoneandonly Z is a good resource for this kind of info.IME i think you need 9-10ft ceilings to be optimum for the 1000DE's,think about it for a minute,if your fixture is 10-12'' tall and you have to keep the light 36+'' away thats Approx 4ft so that leaves you 4' for everything else,beds/pots,drain pans and plants and thats if you have your reflector right up against the ceiling. You find yourself having to dial down your ballasts and thats like having a corvette with a governor on it,lol.Im hoping the new 750's will be a better match for me,the one thing i cant change is my ceiling height.

I agree completely, space will be a huge issue here... vegging will need to be done correctly under T5's and plenty of training to keep them short and bushy....

Or...

Run a massive plant count, single bud SOG.. Which I enjoy doing;)
