Yes sir if you have the capability of controlling your enviroment the same with the excessive growth and temps compared to t5s. Then definitely no ifs about it, hps is the way to go. try like a 400w start small, even a 150 will step you up a bit.

I clone under t5 veg a bit MH for 3wks and hps after flip till harvest. Never flowered under t5 dont have the time or resouces to be wasting to test that out, have used for under lighting but thats about it. So IMO if you can conttrol your new environmental changes that come with an hps than I say ya of course. Best of luck

Hi, I use a 4' 4 tube florescent for veg and flower, average 3 to 4 plants. I will be adding a 2 foot this next grow. I am happy with the results and will be using them as I said on my second grow, veg. thru flower. I just change the bulbs in flower to the red ones. My electric bill only went up 10 dollars a month. Another grower near by his went up over 80dollars a month using the mh and hps lights. He now only uses them for flowering. I am happy with my lights, can't afford the cost of the big ones and the light bill on top of that. Good luck with whatever choice you make, happy growing.

Here is what is on the bulb, when I purchase the light i asked if there were different bulbs for flowering and yes, this is what they gave me. Worked awesome.I hope this helps you. As for spec's lol, don't know sorry. I am still a newbie too. I am sure if you go to a grow shop they will have them. I used 1 red and 3 blue before flower, was okay. but should have kept just blue in there. During flower, i was damaged a red bulb so had to use a blue one for a bit, it wanted to reveg my plants under that bulb, got that changed in a hurry. I guess it called blue light, and red light. Still learning too. lol

I am not sure about denser buds, bud ran 4 plants and each one was different. 1 dud, 1 herm and had to cull the last 2 at week 7 had seeds starting, but some were airy and some dense. It was my first grow and not my starter plants. This one is way different, all my grow start to finish and i think it will be as good as any. In my book , yes lights are a big part of the growing, but the care and paying attention to your plants and give them what they need is more important. I did find that not every plant needed the same watering schedule, some were more thirsty then the others and some had a 2 to 3 day spread before wanting water, and with floro's water don't dissipate as quickly. I am finding each plant has it's own personality, mine right now of the 3, one takes a gallon and half of water each day, one 3/4 gallon every 2 days and the other a gallon every 3 days. And yes water runs thru so no root lock. And they are all close to the same size.

much respect and am a lady.

sounds like you had your fair share of trouble on your fist grow with the hermies n all sorey to hear that my plants are still very small i can split a gallon between all of them but def dif.personalities lol i have one i think is mostly sativa and doesnt like nitrogen or heat. actually i took my stakes i use for lst training out to see how tall they really are and i am not disapointed just lookin at ev1 elses christmas trees made mine look small to me

I would stick to HID lights for flowering if you can afford them.

I do use green fluorescent tubes to work in my system at night however. The green light doesn’t disrupt the girls flowering cycle as they can’t register the green light.

Where do you get green fluoros from? are they just normal tubes covered in green plastic or does the gas inside make green light?

Gas inside makes the green light. The tube is white when off. My local store sells them, but you can prob get them online easy..

i’ve read plants still can register green light via carotenoid pigments that absorb these wavelengths. Maybe if green light was bright enough it would be enough to turn them black?
