A veg room build out...

What's up farmers?

I was tired of vegging in 3 grow tents, so I decided to try my hand at building again....this was built without any help! It isn't perfect but I'm very happy with the progress.

This veg room will help support 2 flower rooms on the flip.

20x12, 8.5 foot ceilings.

Gonna be playing with the new 315 CMH systems. Gonna do a dpap vs ss lec vs t5 vs 600mhs


Here is the progress....

Next is primer and sealing up all the seams and cracks...

Looking good homie, let's see the door lol. Practice makes perfect, did u use a nail hammer gun. It's makes framming a breeze.
Also I know it's to late now but I noticed that u do t have a drain in the concrete and so runoff is an issue sometimes.
What I'll be doing next build out ( very soon) is wrapping g the framing that touches the concrete slab ( about 6 inches up the 2x4 on both sides) with a pond liner. The wood rots out and mold can become an issue with that runoff so the pond liner protects the wood that touches the floor and the potential runoff and it seals the floor to walls gap so runoff is contained in the room. I jus use a shop vac to clean up excess.
I currently have taped pond liner to the floor 6 inch up the wall to contain the runoff.

The door is getting installed tomorrow, we shall see how true and square everything really is!! :)

Yea I used a gas framing nail gun, it makes it go fast.

I use pressure treated wood for the ones touching concrete.

I also will use 1x6s as a sealed baseboard, with caulking.

And I use the edpm pond liners as well, they are pricey but great.

I use 4x8 grow trays that drain into a bucket so I'm not worried about needing a drain.

I have found that using housewrap like tyvek instead of plastic works better under the sheeting,its waterproof and a good vapor barrier yet it still breathes,nice job brother.

How ya been my brotha?

I've always used the plastic as I've always felt that it helped to keep the smell down, I have no proof though, and I always have a 100 foot roll around.

I'm becoming a better builder with each project!

Good billy,thanks for asking,Ive used plastic in the past too and more than once found mold behind it from condensation,which is why i switched to housewrap.

Mold on the inside of the wall? No kidding. I'll look into the house wrap for the new spot!

Between the plastic and the osb/plywood,this was in sealed enviros with humidification.Caulk the hell out of everyting before you paint.Probably not as big an issue if room is not sealed or is vented during lights out when you get a humidity spike.Your room looks almost exactly how i built mine only i stood my sheeting up floor to ceiling as i didnt have one of those gucci drywall dollies,im jealous of that thing,lol.Also my veg is only 8x10 feeding two 12x12's.Like you my runoff never hits the floor so i just epoxied them this time instead of pondliner.Im digging it,cant wait to see the rest.

I used to just put reflectix over the bare wood but now i spray everything with kilz first and this time im using orcafilm over it,im contantly trying new stuff and learning.

Appreciate the insight. I used kilz primer and I did caulk every seem, corner, crevice and I also expandable foamed the other sides.This room will be on 24 hour light, sealed, co2,mini split, eventually 16 of the cmh's.

The drywall lift made it a breeze, and easy.

Haha my helper (mr. drywall lift) doesn't talk or eat or complain about not getting to smoke on the job! My kind of worker!!

I grabbed a 15x25 pond liner so this room is sealed up right!

Guess what? The door fit without any problems @Confuten1 lol!! One happy camper!!

Those are the best helpers and they can hold a sheet all Damn day.... lovin it

When I go back I will snap some pic's of the gutters I got around the WH. I silicon the sheet rock so it don't get wet.

I was wondering if that rubber flex seal you see on the info commercials, would work well at the baseboards or if it would offgass?

For me it would be expensive to buy that stuff. I'm not sure the off gassing thing is that big of a factor. Especially in larger rooms. If you had a small room and went crazy with it maybe.

Yea it would be pricey with the rubber stuff. The pond liner was almost 600 bucks! But worth it's weight in gold....in my earlier days I've ruined a room b4, not understand how drywall wicks water....black mold for days!!

Damn I can't imagine that happening! And those things go through some serious water too! Your lucky no one called the cops!


When I first tried hydro, I flooded a 9k room with 150 gallons of water.....swore it off forever.

Even now, I like to be present when my room gets watered.

Yeah the neighbors turned off the water to the house but the water kept pumping out. I had a sprinkler pump sucking the water out of the lake in the back. It was crazy trust me.
