As close as possible without burning them, probably better half a foot than a foot, even closer with fluros as long as it doesn't burn the plants,oh and welcome to the farm friend!,76

Cloned my mother plant.how close do I keep lights from my new clones
Oops! Nevermind my vote. When you're first cloning your goal is roots. Keep the lighting low until they actually sprout roots. I don't think 20" is sufficiently far to keep the lighting low enough.

In the meantime, welcome to the farm. :)

My floros sit basically right on top of the domes for rooting clones...but that is me.

A foot above is fine

Welcome!

I always kept my Florecents about an inch away from the dome. Remember to keep them moist. Once you switch to ballasts then it's all about the heat your lights put off. I always held my hand right above the plants and feel the heat to make sure there not gonna burn the tops or heat stress them. Hope this helps

How hot are your lights? Can u put yourt hand 6" from the lights and not feel excessive heat? Flouros don't usually put out much heat. If it feels hot to u it ptobably feels hot to your clones
