In the past, we’ve spoken at length about the need to leave hash making to the pros. Amateur hash-making leads to home explosions, those home explosions lead to “Dab Madness”, and where that Dab Madness leads to could spell trouble for the 710 community. And it’s best way avoid that trouble.

Fortunately, the city of Denver, which has been somewhat plagued by butane hash oil related explosions, will move to place an outright ban on the dangerous, amateur activity. According to The Cannabist, the city will ban any solvent-based extraction method (usually butane) and only allow home hash-makers to produce hash to use water (bubble hash) as the extractor.

A new proposal backed by Mayor Michael Hancock’s administration would ban the home use of solvent-based hash oil extraction. It involves highly flammable compressed gasses, typically butane, in the extraction of oil from marijuana. An additional risk is that some users stock up on those gases in their homes. Translation: if you don’t have a license to make hash utilizing the BHO-method, you’re not legally allowed to make hash at your home.

And it’s a decision that will make our industry even better.

They should restrict the sale of the butane itself..kind of like cold medicine..and no master cases at all and no one under 18 can buy it period, like spray paint is now..that'll slow every ones roll

Isn't Butane already monitored restricted and all that jazz for all the torches and other extracurricular activities it's known for?

Water extraction should be differentiated for it's safety I mean in a way that LEO can't call every concentrate butane oil

Alot of People are too stupid to be allowed to play with flammables,even if its a small percentage they fubar it for everyone.I think you need to make the distinction also between BHO and say using bubble bags,big difference but cops seem to think hash is hash,I dont even think of BHO as hash.What happens when a licensed extract maker blows himself up?Do we ban all use of flammable solvents?I bet licensed extract makers are jumping for joy on this one also.Kind of sucks to ban one person yet allow another but i understand the problem,maybe its time to figure out a new extraction process that doesnt involve shit that can blow up?

Want restrictions move to Russia. We don't need anymore bullshit restriction or laws because of a few Darwin candidates.

I disagree with the ban.. You cant just make something illegal and expect the end results are gonna be exactly what you want.

A Ban will ruin more lifes for those who KNOW how to safely extract it but are now felons if they do.

The idiots who blow there shit up only do it ONCE...

Should we ban Guns because they can kill people too? And stupid fucks get there hands on those all the time.

CASE IN POINT. cpl days ago a 9 year old girl was taken to a gun range by her parents, her gun instructor gave the 9 year old a FULLY automatic UZI.
He allowed her a single shot in single mode then switched to full auto and gave complete control of the gun to the little gurl. The gun kicked up and to the left when she fired and the instructor was shot in the head and died shortly after.

So we should outlaw guns right? OR wait.. We should outlaw those parents from having kids right? Or wait. we should outlaw gun ranges right? Or wait we should promote better education on gun safty right? But wait. it was the gun range instructor who gave her the gun? See where im going with this.

Accidents happen because of NEGLECT. People NEGLECT to understand what the fuck there doing.

Laying down more laws putting criminal penalties to anything cannabis related ya'll should be fucking ashamed of your selfs!

Ya Im with NO to more prohibition of anything. When are we as a Nation going to learn that prohibition doesn't work.

Then there is the fact that, you just cant fix stupid. Stupid runs all the way to the bone. Who in their right mind would even attempt BHO extraction inside a confined area. Well I guess the answer is plenty, as the news events have shown.

Youtube ... I blame youtube for spreading dumbass videos of teenagers running shit in there how-to videos..

I could name drop a few morons ive seen claim to be experts then proceed to run indoors.. Or drop the slab on the floor pick out a cpl pieces of whatever and call it Grade A+ medicine...

Ive talked to people who live in apartments who run inside cause of there neighbors... Ive chewed peoples asses out for that shit and defriended one guy who just refused to listen to any kind of reasoning.

Forums are a great resource for learning.. Youtube is not lol.

I really beleive we dont need more stupid laws but like i said maybe its time we start to look for a different way to make concentrates that does not involve combustibles under pressure which is a recipe for disaster in itself.I support the darwin theory too,let them blow themselves the fuck up,but what about the 4 year old in the next room or the people in the apartment next door who have nothing to do with it?There has to be a better way because this is just making the whole community look very bad to everyone else around us and if we dont figure it out they are going to ban/make illegal concentrates period.

I agree…. combustibles under pressure is no bueno…. that's why I use the thermos method. ;)

I think this is the right move, but also increase penalties if you harm others in the process. Not ban the process from home growers.

Butane is used for more then just blasting.. business and resellers alike buy by the pallet full and re-sell in shops/ebay ect ect... limiting the supply would just choke free trade.

Hardly the answer.
