Colorado health officials want to ban many edible forms of marijuana, including brownies, cookies and most candies.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has recommended that retail marijuana edibles be limited to lozenges and tinctures.

The recommendation was obtained by The Associated Press in advance of a third and possibly final workgroup meeting Monday on identifiable markers or colors for edible marijuana products so they won't be confused with regular foods.

The health department's recommendation would effectively take most forms of edible marijuana off store shelves. The ultimate decision will be made by the Department of Revenue, which oversees retail marijuana sales.

Blackmarket bud Brownies...

That would stink, I love edibles of all kinds. Thinking kids getting into them being the biggest problem. Of course asking the majority of folks to be responsible with them is tough. Add a child's curiosity and they'll get more out of that cookie than they bargained for.

Why would they possibly do this..? It's so stupid! Edibles are undoubtedly a better and safer way to medicate than smoking...I get the kid argument but if they get locked into a medical cabinet with other meds then it wouldn't be an issue....true askng folk to be responsible can be a problem..

I would think this is more along the lines of food safety and prep than being a problem wih kids.i mean you should have all medication stored out of reach anyway right...
I know i do..but then again thats just me we all know how many twisted people there are in this world..
happy farmin;)

This isn't anything more than backlash against those who voted in favor of recreational marijuana. This isn't about parenting or responsibility, it is all about the dollar bills. Employment is up at the MMED, gives them plenty of time to 'worry' about how big our pot problem is and find, cite, and/or close shops and increase inspections.

Don't worry about the local cops though, all they will do is shoot your dog.

Lots of kids are getting ahold of them. Washington has had a high rate of emergencies. Yep some stoners leaving them around.
