Howdy all, commercial grower, looking other knowledgeable growers to share ideas and growing techniques. Im hydroponic currently, but have experience in peat and coco as well. Im actually recovering from a bad fungus gnat outbreak, little fuckers. Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated.

How large is your facility?

Fungus gnats are easy...

-OG Biowar
-Diatomaceous Earth
-EZ Wet
and then the guaranteed Systemic would be Bayer Tree and Shrub, applied in Veg.

GO nats worked for me wel, then a steady once a week preventative of neem seemed to keep em away, but preventative neem actually helps keep a lot of stuff away, just not after week 2 or so of bloom ive never sprayed

I wish I could help you there, those little fuckers are the bane of my existence. Literally EVERYWHERE. Oh, look! A little fucker gnat in my coffee!

The only times I've been able to keep them out of my rooms was when I was (ignorantly) using Hot Shot No Pest Strips. :/ I find they don't appear when I'm using pure perlite as the sole growing media, though. Just an observation, don't understand why that is, but I did notice.

Go to your local greenhouse or landscaper supply and ask for "microbe lift" it is enzymes that feed on insect larvae, intended for ponds or standing water i have known no antagonistic properties with using this with normal nutrient schedules or other microbial life.

Thanks guys, my space is 8000sq ft. Im pretty sure I got the gnats under control with, microbe lift, neematodes, predator mites, sticky traps, and good gardening techniques. BUT, Im pretty sure the little fuckers left me with pythium, or some kind of fusarium fungal disease. Growth is slowed, leaves are drooping more than I like, and roots tips are burnt, and browning. Im hydro rockwool, res's are good temps, and well aerated, as well as environment. Ive been using orca, hydroguard, superthrive, and things are doing pretty good, but slower than normal, and roots are browner than normal. Ive got some rootshield, and rhizoblast/defensor which are beneficial microrganisms which I will run on my next round. Oh yeah, I tried spraying with some eagle20 too, and seems to work ok.

My fear is I may have to scrap all my mother plants if their diseased with pythium, or fusarium, then restock my whole grow, which will cost time and countless $$$$$$$. I have the seed bank to do so, but don't really want to shut down. I got 90lb off 56 lights last harv, but this one will be less for sure. Anyone with experience in pythium/fusarium and curing it will be greatly appreciated.

yeah i noticed the fungus gnats eat the fine root hairs and they "steal"the vigor & health of your plants.little bastards

You sure you got fungus gnats and not root aphids?

Fungus gnats, for sure. Although I have a pretty big grow so you are always on a constant battle. What I believed happened is the fungus gnats gave me some sort of pythium or fusarium (fungal disease) which sucks because plants look ok and yield descent, but the full potential is reduced, maybe 35-40%. Plus some plants will wilt and die when Im deep into flush and ready to harv. I also believe this infection has found its way into my mothers, and now all cuttings seem to be "born" with this disease. Im almost ready to start over (which will be a HUGE project), but was hoping someone on here would have some info on a curative for this shit.

it's Gratiot basically but in my experience it works faster by days and with a much less application rate. 6 to 8 drops per gallon and got better results than a tbls per gallon of Gnatrol.

Tnelz, thanks, I can pretty much write a book on fungus gnats, I already have microbe lift, thanks, and lotsa other products. My current problem is the root rot disease that the gnats have brought into my grow, and is spreading systemically into my clones from my mothers.

Well if you don't want me to come help maybe some pics will help. I have never heard of fungus gnats causing any of the problems you have listed. Maybe if you can give some details on your grow besides how big it is we can help u figure it out. Let's start with what's your ph run off?

Ebb n flow Res's in veg are fine no real acidic spike. Drip trays in flower runoff is generally around 6-6.2. In veg ,Root tips burn, general yellowing, strange nute deficiencies signs even though nutes are fine. Slowed growth, roots are browning in veg, using synthetics. When put into flower, plants grow and look pretty good, but far from their full potential, also in flower yellowing of bottom leaves, and curling up, then dry up and die.

Have you scoped them to make sure there is no broad or hemp russet mites? That still wouldn't explain the burnt roots though.
