Also craigslist seattle under "i502" has had a few positions offered as well @squiggly

Just to clarify the siuation:

1. I completed coursework for the BS 2 years ago, but I held off on one class so that.....

2. I completed all coursework required for the MS degree without losing federal funding (as you do once you get a BS)

So, I am now being awarded a BS (I already hold an AS), and if at some point in the future I can muster up the funds to pay for an aditional 1-1.5 years on campus to complete a thesis, I will then be awarded the MS.

I argued, to no avail, that I ought to be allowed to present one of my 3 completed research/thesis projects which I did during my "undergraduate" degree.

The school, however, saw through the loophole and the general consensus between myself, my academic advisor, and my research advisor--is that they want their money.

So functionally I'm at an MS level, but I will be applying to BS level jobs.

If I get lucky and end up with an employer who supports continuing education I'll have the MS lickety split--all I need is a thesis which, while time consuming, is easy as shit to complete. The hard work is behind me.

Now a Ph.D--THAT is an entirely different story. I'm quite far away from that still.

I basically figured, look, if I'm being ass rammed this hard for money--I might as well try to game the system and get something out of it.

So far, it is not lost on the employers I've been speaking with that I've completed all of the MS coursework. Most of them could give a damn about the thesis. In general I'm being offered mid-level positions that an experience BS candidate or an entry level MS candidate would be offered.

What industry wants and what college provides are two diametrically opposed things. My saving grace is my YEARS of laboratory experience. That puts me significantly ahead of most people leaving school with only a BS. General for an undergrad you do a semester of research. I completed 9, and most employers are sucking my dick about it right now.

The issue is that they're mostly petrochem companies and I don't want to suck their dick back. I'm trying to fight against the urge to sell out, but uncle sam is going to bang my door down for these student loans in short order so I may ultimately be forced. It's also hard to watch my mom drown under her debt and this would give me an easy route to fix that.

I'm trying to convince myself that these aren't the roads I want to travel, but like i said--capitalism.

Start making concentrates squig. Its in high demand! Make your own way bro fuck working for someone else! Open up your own lab after the cheddar starts flowing in. Dont suck that dick!!

I don't have the capital to move to a legal state and get that set up. In illinois the medical shit is the strictest in the country, I don't think there's a door for me to even try to jam my foot into here.

I'm down to relocate, I can make that work financially--but once I get there I need a source of income or I'm boned.

Hell, if anyone is looking to expand their process to include concentrates, holler at me.

Id say you should go get that job then. So what if its a devil worshiping petro/chem company! They'll just hire someone else. Go make that money and then you can do what ya want after ya have some change saved up. Good luck with whatever you do.

If you can find a company that will pay to relocate..that much the better. One of my cousins married a lab geek that worked for Hershey..god they are both lab geeks..DINKS making 3 figures each..they opened up some CVS's as a side project. At that level you get to make comapny policy..word up.

Bluelab .. I am very impressed with my ppm meter from them. I have had it for about 4 years now and it has proven the test of time. Accuracy, dependability, ease of use. I can really see you fitting in there.

I encountered that when working to complete my graphic arts degree, HARD. Actually made the money and time spent in school pretty much a complete and total waste, because no one does things by hand anymore. I'm glad you didn't fall into that trap.

I would say take the high paying job for the man in a Legal or Med State and then moonlight in cannabis on the side
working for yourself is the best way to go but you gotta have capital first

just my 2 cents
best of luck to you!

Frackin' "A" Bro... Use your scientific knowledge /technical expertise to improve or show the damage / causation to ground water or the man made earthquakes caused by Fracking with science you can be part of... $$$$$ (Noble Cause far from "Sell Out")...

To know the truth and make the world A better place by finally dispelling the myth that Fracking is responsible for the job boom we See on "Private Property" in oil & natural gas states and the $2 per. gallon gas we are seeing now  that has put more spendable money in everybodies pocket that government can't manage to do by tax breaks, limits on Federal land & subsidizing green energy, solar and electric cars... The truth will set people free ;)

One of the positions I'm looking hard at is developing biodegradable polymers for use in fracking.

Can't go wrong there... All technologies have room for improvement and fossil fuels still play A major role in energy weather people accept that or not... If you can make the world A cleaner safer more efficient place with science I call that A far cry from "Sell Out" Hope you find yourself where you wish to be... Doing that what you enjoy is Icing on the Cake ;) Good Luck :D

oh, im sorry. I misunderstood. that is such a drag. Cant u just always have the quick fix urine on you incase an emergency, or in your locker.
I was just offered a new job and was just told I would have to take a drug test next week at one of the sites. I don't no where or when. Im going to just take my Quick fix fake urine and hope I can activate it properly or im fucked cuz a week isn't long enough to get all the THC out of my system. Oh well. life goes on.And I will keep my ears open for a Chemist job for you. !

I might as well add my 2 cents if it can help someone out. I purchased the new Quick fix urine version 6.1 it has the previous mixed uric acid that some labs are now looking for. I had the stuff in my glove box for a few weeks because I heard a test might be coming up since we got bought out. We'll I was handed some paperwork and was told I had to drop in 1 hour.....shit....I pulled over at 7-11 and popped the shit in the microwave for 10 seconds and stuffed it in my pants. I poured the Quick Fix in the cup came out and handed to the chick. Needless to say the shit worked I passed a 10 panel test I got it from www.quickfixsynthetic.com best believe I'm buying more now lol.

I agree. Soon, every job position will do pre-employ and random piss tests.

More then likely swab tests on the spot. I think the swab test are cheaper for them.....nazis

Cheaper yes, Caveman. Our workplace once had oral swab tests and stopped using them. Mostly because of lots of false positives..it was indicating everyone was on meth and opies, lol. wtf.

Yeah I have only been quitting 3 days at a time as I've been setting up interviews. Specifically to dodge swab tests. It's cost me a few gigs through staffers as they want you to be Johnny on the spot, but I'd rather avoid them anyway unless they are facilitating a direct hire (in which case 3 day wait for interview is usually fine).

I've got lots of fake piss ready to go. I am as hairless as a naked mole rat, except my eyebrows.

I'm ready for this. Pretty soon I'll just go grab an FDA job. They apparently don't drug test.
