Bluzboy's Trailer Park Movie Review of "Fury", the WW II story of a tank crew near the end of the war starring Brad Pitt, Shia Leboef,....
Okay, this film was a gritty, bloody, gory accurate showing of the realities of modernized warfare experienced by a tank crew that has managed to survive the Allied invasions of Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Normandy with out losing anyone in the crew till their last engagement where they lose their long time bow machine gunner. They are battle fatigued to the point of borderline psychosis and this story is taking place in late march/early April 1945, right after the Malmedy massacre of surrendered GI's by an SS battalion and so the rage of these soldiers in the 2nd armored division, which was an Omar Bradley armored unit, and they are executing any SS or regular German Infantry they run into that even surrender. The crew is lead by a Sgt. Rock like NCO played by Pitt, and Shia plays this like tent preacher soldier gone mad, and then there is Gordo, and thgis other guy who acts and talks like Billy Bob Thorton did as Slingblade....like Slingblades dad or something....anyway, their new gunner ends up being this kid fresh out of boot trained to be a typist(ohhhhhhhhh cheez whiz mr. Script writer, , didn't Spielberg assign a shaved tailed louie battle naïve typist to go behind enemy lines with battled hardened guys in another movie, was it private Ryan, hmmmmmm, ouch...), and so this battle and battlefield naïve typist, who has never been in a tank, becomes the new bow gunner for a tank crew who are so battle hardened they waft in and out of psychotic brutality and the humanity they once had. Now the acting, battle sequences, are extremely realistic as well as the tnks in battle tactics....there is an incredible realistic tank battle between 4 Shermans and a German Tiger tank that really shows how badly tank crews were outgunned and out armored but still found ways to prevail but with extremely high costs in crew losses and casualties. The acting is superb by Pitt, Shia is great, as you would expect but there were a lot of things in this script I just found detracted from the intent of the story....at the end just like in private Ryan, you see the typist finally find the killer in him and become an accepted member of the crew before they pull a 300 like stand with just 5 guys and a tank at a crossroads with a SS battalion headed for it and their tank can't move cause they hit a mine that broke their tire on the tank and it won't go anywhere and this is where the story asks for you to suspend belief that these guys would do what they did....I just did not buy the suicide mission hold the crossroads with one broken tank....I just did not buy into it with these guys....and the ending sucked in that the typist makes it and stands around in a daze around rescuing US troops and then fade to black "Fini"....so I give this film 2 shiny like new matching hubcaps for war realism, war is hell, and showing what it was to be in a WW II tank crew and for the good acting, and I give it one unmatched dirty hub cap for uninspiring script, that pretty much was just watching guys make a young kid man up to being as brutal and psychotic as they were...
So final,Bluzboy Trailer Park Review score 2 shiny hub caps, and one dirty un matching hub cap for a script that developed characters you just could not ever like very much at all as the viewer and even as a veteran myself, then rehashing/redoing a scenario already done in Private Ryan of sticking naïve self effacing greenhorn into brutal combat situations, and that 's why the third hub cap is unmatch and a dirty one oin my review of this film....tonight is all 13 episodes of "The Tic" on a DVD I just got for 3 bucks at Waloly Mart....all 13 episodes of the Tic live action TV series that stars the guy as the The Tic who played Elaine's boyfriend that was car mechanic then car slaeman who painted his face up for Hockey games...his name I have brain farted at the moment due to some Blue Afghan in joint form... but funny guy...looking forward to laughing at this as much as I think I might...
Light em' up and hit play brothers and sisters of the grow!!!

My brother saw Nightcrawler at the theater in ABQ back in November and said it is really good, but be prepared, it is a very dark film......

I though it was OK, i dunno i couldn't really get into it..

From my brothers description, I did not think I was going to like it much either, sounded just to much in the dark side and I personally watch films for fun and not to end up feeling like hell from something I watched. get enough of that reading the news, which I avoid also...I like black comedies however, the original EVIIL Dead II was hysterical, and the Army Of Darkness Sequel with Bruce Campbell...new or old good and bad SCI-FI, 80's/90's straight to video schlocktravesties of the Mystery Science Fiction theater kinds, or 50's 60's/70's Ed Wood or Herschel Walker Gordon drive in flicks....30's three stooges with Curly, and some of the three stooges with Hemp after Curly died, Animae old and new, Vampire Hunter D, Spaceship Yamamoto, I watch all the stuff mainly that requires an IQ of less than 90 or 85 or so....I'm not picky if the bud is good...

I'm not reading that wall of text. You ever hear of hitting the 'enter' key, Bluz? :p

So last night, we watched a more underground flick called Fort Bliss. Of course, since my friend is CSM there right now, I wanted to watch it, but I also knew that it was going to be a VERY difficult movie to watch.

And so it was. Not so much for the battle scenes and gore, but for the relationships depicted and how a serviceperson loses so much when they're deployed. We were crying by the end of the movie. It was very good, but you need to be in a frame of mind to watch it.

Hehheh, was it any better than The Lego Movie?

Last night we watched Get Low. GREAT flick, and you wanna know whose role I enjoyed the most? The character named Buddy Robinson (or some such, I should do the imdb, huh?). I'm pretty sure he was the kid in Sling Blade, damn near 100% sure, too. Yup! I KNEW it! Very distinct mannerisms.

Anyway, Get Low is, or was, a term for dying. The premise of the movie is that an old hermit, played by Robert Duvall, has decided that he's gonna get low sometime soon and he wants a funeral party, but while he's alive so he can see it for himself. The movie seriously evolves from there.

Simply put, no. lol These kids movies man, sometimes I wonder. I think I ended up turning it off, fell asleep a couple times, woke up a couple times. Not sure who I would recommend this movie for. It's that kind of hyper lego movie jumpy toonage, so caffeine for kids basically.

Now, I gotta go find this Get Low movie. It sounds very familiar, the story.

Whiplash

Holy mother of jazz drumming! I think I'll be processing this one for a while. A musical roller coaster.
