Hey One,

What model of Ingersol Rand Compressor are do you have in your apeks system?

Thanks

So, I am in the process of getting my APEKS machine set up and have a few complaints about their customer service but I get that they are a rapidly growing company though. regardless, when you pay 69K for something you expect a reasonable level of service and information that I just haven't got from them.

Granted I was a little green and naive going into it but if they just gave you all the information up front then the customer would avoid many pitfalls. Right now I've got everything set up only to find my phase converter isn't bringing the voltage high enough to compensate for the start up voltage drop created by the compressor. so, now I'm dealing with 3 companies to get this resolved...Apeks, Ingersoll Rand (compressor), and Kay Industries (phase converter). When the compressor tech showed up to start it up and there was problems he said that is ALWAYS the case. What? Thanks for the heads up Apeks! Needless to say I'm a little frustrated but anxious to get rolling.

Peace!

Why are these machines so expensive? The parts aren't that expensive and are readily available. Seems like some sort of scam. 500k, 100k, etc. stainless steel isn't $100 bucks a pound. Welder and boilermakers unite! Start making reasonably priced equipment and we will buy....

It ain't that simple bro. The components are double jacketed ASME rated pressure vessels - I build vessels like this only much larger lol (the last Pressure vessel that I built was in the neighborhood of 100' long and 120 ton if I remember correctly :p). Also, integrated logic controls with alarms is not overly cheap. Finally that compressor probably costs 20k by itself. I know the replacement for the pneumatic pump is supposed to be a natural gas pump... those go for 20-25k... just sayin. My guess is that they make 30-40% margin on the sale, but that's typical retail....

I've run an 1500psi Apeks and have seen the issues with it. I would love to ditch the haskel pump and the upkeep involved with it. Also the temp/humidity around the compressor can cause hair pulling. With that being said the machine CAN make eye candy and terperific oil. Water in oil is an issue for most, but once it is out---yum yum. SmallerTerpPic

Well.... since Eden never responded to my RFQ, or maybe they did lol..... there was a few days where I was being spammed by a robo-dialer with a Pakistani sounding (no-offense, what it sounded like to me and I work with engineers from India and Pakistan regularly) voice that kept asking for the Owner but would hang up when I'd ask who's calling.... nah I don't think that was them :p

4 hours huh? I'm curious, bro, cause what you are saying sounds too good to be true to me.... I expect I know what the deal is though... what temperatures does the Eden equipment run at?

How much can the Eden propane unit hold( weight ) for each run?
Can u run sugar leaves in or buds only?
Do u have to grind up the buds before putting them in?
I'm pretty sure I'm getting an Eden. I want to find out which model and what options do I need on it to make it as easy as possible?
What is the taste like - compared to Glass or budder. I would hate to fork out the hash for something that tastes like s@#t.
I'm going to ask on another thread but I'll throw them out there:
Is the tasisium 8oz unit any good?
Can u get glass/shatter out of it.
cab you run iso prop in it?
HOW LONG TO COMPLETE A CYCLE?
ANY PROBLEMS OR COMPLAINTS?
HOW DOES THE TASISIUM COMPARE TO OTHER BHO UNITS?
I'VE SEEN THE TERP BUT I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO BUILD IT:( ANY HELP)
HOW DOES THE THE TERP COMPARE TO OTHER SIMULAR DEVICES? HOW LONG TO COMPLETE A CTCLE?
HOWS QUANITY AND QUALITY?

For all units, is it better to grind your buds, or leave them as is before putting them in the your Extraction units?

Do you have to freeze material before putting them in to propane extractoor/BHO unit?

Man, that little thing is badass. I wonder what @Graywolf thinks about these? Aluminum pressure vessel cool or should it be ss?

I think stainless would be better. Would be really cool to reverse engineer this thing. Makes co2 extraction not seem so intimidating

Exactly, reverse engineer like a mofo. Even two ounces would be slightly less weak. 16hr day to process a pound and you might yield 10%. How many runs before what breaks and costs how much and takes how long to get?...but oh the glorious co2 oil you would have!

Oh..... I gots to have me one of those.... Looks the tube might hold an ounce if ground up maybe? I dunno... looked like a 10%

Bubba, did you ever go ahead and purchase one of the co2 extraction machines?

The superC is tempting for the price. anybody out there ever use one?

Aluminum should be ok at these temps, go cryo though and crack city I would think in the welds...

I didn't buy it. Did two runs @ 10% yield on demI.... I can do better than that with high grade solventless, but the product had insane terp profile... consistency is kinda gooey. However, if you scrape the crystalline extract off the chamber walls, pulverize it good, then press hell out of it, then slowly bring to 90deg or so..... you got straight up shatter, completely stable in your bare hands.

I haven't looked at your file yet, but another good reason not to spend 90K is that hash processing fees are ridculously cheap now..... that ROI better include a plan to also sell hash retail or you'll be upside down for a decade.

Sadly we have yet to receive the loaner Apeks lab top SCFE CO2 extractor Nate offered for our testing, so I can't comment first hand on their equipment until I have done so. I got to lay eyes on it and it sure is a purdy thang, so am still waiting with bait on mah breath.

Anecdotally, I can say that one of my clients sons works for Golden Leaf, whom just sold their Apeks unit after exhausting options with Apeks, and replaced it with an Eden Labs high flow unit, which delighted them enough to purchase a second one yet to be delivered.

As Fritz had extended an invitation to visit their new digs and Patrick had enthralled me with his fractionation samples at the last cup, I arranged for a tour and show and tell with questions session with both Fritz and Patrick, that included that clients son, as well as another client having a 15KSI unit built for another industry.

Traffic on I-5 to and from, was typically congested and at a standstill at times, but we avoided the really heavy Seattle traffic by peeling off at the Sea Tac exit. Their new facility is in the same complex as their old one was, but roomier and with rows of units in various sizes and stages of completion, up to a 60 liter system.

Patrick and Fritz both spent some time with us in their lab reviewing things to come, and are looking forward to where they take their niche of the industry with things like fractionating and molecular distillation.

I had a splendid time and it left both of my clients enthralled, so it was a day well spent and as a bonus we had the opportunity to grab a tasty burger and porter with Fritz at a nearby pub.

Eden Labs has much faster run times (4 hours vs 12 hours). Higher yields due to the reduced surface tension cohesion of SCFE. The pumps never break, and they have a great knowledge of the industry. A company I consulted with ended up going to Eden to request that they fix their Apex system, pumps were breaking so often and yields were so low they weren't making money. Since then they have purchased another Eden system in addition to the retrofit. If I had the cash I would avoid Apexs like the plague. Waters is just big pharma trying to get in on the green rush.

Not true. I have an EDEN LABS machine and the pump failed on the second run. They had to replace it. I am on my 6th run and the pump is failing again. Not operator error. Pretty damn frustrating.

Interesting. I've consulted on Eden equipment for almost 3 years now and I've never heard of the new pump breaking. Do you have one of their gas booster systems? Those are notoriously bad.
