Hi, I have an Apeks 1L Benchtop System that runs very well for me, I use a vac oven for my water removal for smaller amounts but use a rotatory evaporator for larger amounts.

what do you use?

Want to get one of those Apeks 1L system for R&D. Does anyone know if you can use it out of your garage? or do you need to be in some sort of industrial type of room?

You could operate it out a basement or environmentally controlled garage or work area. You will only need 2 separate 15a circuits off an electrical panel.

Thank you Longshot. What do you mean by environmentally controlled? My garage is clean and I use it as an office since I work from home. Also, will the system be loud while it's running? I saw a video on YouTube and sounds like it could be loud. Just want to make sure neighbors don't complain about the noise.

you want to make sure operating environment is between 65 and 85 degrees. The compressor is not that loud and if its in your closed garage you would not be able to hear it at all. If you built a proper spot and put built a sound deadening shield for it you could easily run it while working in there.

Or do what I did and build a sealed room for it, insulate the walls, use a entry door and you wont hear a thing. You can take it to the extreme like I did and put a Mini Split with Inverter in there to control the temp and humidity to my specifications but in reality just make sure the room is clean, between 65 - 85 and dont operate if humidity is crazy high or low.

Got it. Thanks again for elaborating on that thought, greatly helps on what I need to do next.

that could have been my prob humidity was hella low in a lung room i ran in

Help needed.... got 1 of only 2 permits through MO Dept of Ag to grow high CBD Industrial Hemp (MMJ not legal yet), extract the oil and make cbd oil for medicinal only. Have spoken with both Apex and Eden. Anyone have experieince with CO2 for hemp. Both companies recommended it but then backpleedled and said that they would also consider distillation with ethanol wsah. Looking to go CO2 but just can't sort which machine to go with. I am new to the industry and jsut want to make sure I am spending the $$$$ as wisely as possible

How do you achieve faster run times? What sets your system apart?

I offer a unique collection process geared for the extraction of cannabinoids. Equipment on the market utilize primitive separation techniques used in all botanical oil extractors, it is time consuming, and they are designed for collecting liquid oils(not cannabinoids). The design separates and rinses the extract in process, and can be treated like any other solvent based extraction after that, shatter, wax, or making solution for pens. My equipment also cost 1/2 the price as the competitors.

So the separators make the run go faster?

How does a Separator designed for cannabinoids differ from one designed for liquid? Thanks for your time!

Sounds like snake oil to me bro unless you post something up more than talk - no offense

I hear you man. You probably really won't like to know (if you don't already) that the pump that makes the whole thing go, i.e. what the compressor is pushing, has to be rebuilt every 1500 hours? Not totally sure on that number, but I do believe they are coming out with a retrofit to do away with the big ass compressor and the pump won't require near as much maintenance.... of course that'll cost you I think it was 20K is what the service engineer told me. They definitely need to go another route than the current compressor.... nice piece of equipment, but the motor load curve on it must be too much for most commercial wiring jobs.... I'm not sure if it'll run on 3 phase 208v, but I bet if it does you will have problems with the compressor tripping the service with anything short of 480v 3phase service.

I have had experience with the Apeks 1500-L machine and the machine works nothing like they claim. The machine I had used a Masterline pump which is manufactured for different applications than the Apeks machine. Apeks takes a pump that is made for filling oxygen bottles and adds a bunch of solenoids and reverses the steels lines in order for it to work for their application. Needless to say the pump seals need to be constantly changed and that was not the end of my frustrations. I have spoken to Apeks, Masterline, and a massive amount of Eden Labs users here in North Bay CA. All of them could not fix the issues, and all Apeks could do was recommend buying additional seals, adding more coalescing filters or blame me for the machine not working correctly, keep in mind this was in the first 2 months of use and this machine is supposed to be fully automated.

Yeah that pump spooked me. Dude told me they were supposed to have an upgraded pump coming that wouldn't have to be rebuilt as often - I think was s pump originally purposes for pumping nat gas.... or maybe you're talking about the new pump lol

I have the pump built by masterline, it is built for filling oxygen bottles not for circulating oil tainted CO2.....

BEWARE OF APEKS SUPERCRITICAL 1500-L MACHINE

Before purchasing anything from Apeks I suggest you read my experience below......

I just wanted to stop by and include my experience with Apeks.

I live in the North Bay area of California and I now many people with machines that work properly, many of those machines being made from Eden Labs. Let’s just say I regret not doing my research before purchasing Apek's 1500-L benchtop machine.

Everything went well with Apeks until the machine finally arrived. When the machine ran the first time it ran okay while producing lower yields than expected.

After studying the manual and spending time on the phone with customer service I decided to give the machine another 4 hour run, only this time the yield was almost nothing and mostly water. During the third run the pump started to make popping noises and guess what I needed to do, change the seals already in the first ten hours of use.

After buying a set of costly seals and more filters Apek’s said to check the orifice orientation on the separation vessel and everything was in spec according to the manual. So I started the machine for the fourth time only to see the yield of the first run, and steadily declining after that.

So as I went down this road for the next couple months I found myself purchasing and replacing multiple sets of seals and filters only to have the same problem over and over again.

I was on the phone constantly with customer service and all they could direct me to do was follow the cleaning steps in the manual which I have been since the start. They then told me a may need to add another coalescing filter to the loop and possibly change my regulator because I started having pressure drops in the separation chamber.

Keep in mind this entire nightmare was in the first 100 hours of the machine operation, when I should have had to change the seals once I changed them about 8 times, while receiving very little in product over the 100 hours.

So I finally said enough is enough, I called Apeks and demanded they take the machine back, since I was under warranty still I expected some compensation for spending $30,000 on a machine that doesn’t work as promised. They were only willing to give me half my money back and refused to honor their 25% restocking fee and I am still battling with them till this day. They claimed the machine had oil in it, and that was obvious to me. It was only then Andy Joesph the owner explained to me there is several ways oil can get into the pump 6 of which are mentioned nowhere in the manual, oh yeah and the pump is not manufactured for CO2 recirculation.

Needless to say this was my honest experience with the Apeks 1500-L machine and beware of purchasing this machine. As of right now this machine is not ready for market and they need to more R&D on this “fully automated” machine because it is any but fully automated. I have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and have had multiple experienced growers and supercritical guys scratch their heads with this machine. BEWARE!

If you have further questions about my experience please feel free to email me at [email protected].

Wow, thanks man. I can't disagree with anything... it was billed as push button automatic but I tweaked that wasn't the case when the compressor kept tripping...

It did make a nice product for me.
