Whats Cracking Nite Owls? Anyone up? Bored as hell @ work and every so often I get a whiff of weed...so i keep sniffing around my desk, my back pack, digging in my pockets...I am like I hope my co-worker does not smell it too...Anyhow, I was just cruising for a bruisin' and decided to stop by the Nite Owl!

Hello night owls!!!!! Nice to see everyone doing so good. I have here a shot of unknown strain seeds gifted to me from our local hydroponics store owner down in Texas at the H.. anyhow here is a shot as of this morning enjoy. For anyone wondering it has been 2 weeks since flip and vegged for quite awhile, 6 weeks I believe under a 100 watt T5 and a one week transition to 600 watt MH. Flowering with a 600 yield lab dimmable ballast at 110% here is a close up

keiksweat,
Ya got a jungle growing there bro..
My tomato cages are on their 3rd or 4th grow, still like new. Got `em at half price at the end of the summer season, good investment, IMO.

Who hoooo owls how the hell is everyone doing this evening/morning still been going hard at the red and clean up or rather put back up lol I don't know what it is all going to be but I will do some pics of my flower room here In just a few minutes but first let me get to all your guys awesom and appreciated postings

@MIKEZILLAlet me first say thanks for your comments I am very glad to hear you enjoy the information you get from us here at this thread night owls club and I have a few suggestions for the questions that you have. First don't top and transplant at the same time i would separate them by a week so you do not shock them to bad and cost you 3 weeks. As you keep saying "trellis" I am a little bit confused about the specific terms you intend do you mean trellis and I am just wondering if you are talking about for scrog or upward growth? Or are tou talking about actual flat trellis? or maybe even cages? If this is the case I would recomend useing the cages for upward growth, I would have to say you are talkin Scrog tho since this was out last convoy subject, for this I would have to say you need to do the topping then the transplant about 5 days to a week later, then you will wait another week at which point the lower nodes will be small branches and the tops will be two small ones. Then you asked for a link to a video of topping this I do not have I don't use them most are lies the rest teach bad habits this goes as well for any grow bible that has any form of advertising within the text. I have a few pictures of my own way i van dmshow you it's the same as everyone else so I am sure that you should be able to get the idea fairly easy it's not hard to do i may even have one to show you That Is After The Proper Time To To Top, doing this makes for a very nice and even canopy as you can top the main then top four or six tops at once much faster. Here are the pictures of my own. Hope the help. Would also like to let you know your welcome to ask nearly anything else anytime you need to i live for this shit if i don't answer I am sorry but I am busy not just ignoring you and if I don't know I will say I don't and ask around for you and my education as well.

Ok topping here is some info for you

First you want to top your girls at the fourth node space rite as to forms a new node count from the first set up to the fourth not down. Then here is an example photo of to early for topping it is fourth node but needs just a little bit more time to create the two on the sides under the top
1439297674445

Then here is one ready for topping before and after
1439298010369

Then here is what the result looks like where you topped makeing two tops and how the bottoms stretch out to catch up while she heals the cut. This one is ready to be topped again now, only difference is I will top both tops this time then after that you should have a fairly bushy plant with the other three catching entirely up top all of them wait two weeks flower. This is why I don't count vegg days to determine flower just a base line to know the age time, for the most part I base my flower time from the type of growth explained here most the time anyway.

And as for FIM (aka Fuck I Missed) this is one of my favorite techniques it is not really hard and has more uses than just topping, such as controlled bushing same as stem pinching but less stressful and damaging then you can also stop a stringy plant from further stretching by fixing every top and I am just a little bit more educated/experienced with FIM than alot of other growers on it because most dont use it and just top. What I use it for is when I am going to scrog or mother a plant basically just use it for all the above mentioned just like the nycd earlier this week and again here she is in an airpot that is a ten gallon equivalent closer to five gallon squat in size she is just under 24" tall

1439299031411
I will now give you an example of Fim with her as well. So remember the plant that was to early for topping well she is perfect for the FIM method like this.

Last but not least by any means is topping for bean poles or if you simply forgot to do it and it has gotten to tall mine is a bean pole the forgot will have more growth as well as get better bush later compared to one like this notice four nodes left this is because we will still need to top later in the development.
1439299580397
1439299670026

That is all I can think of for my version of the process and I am positive I have missed a few vital bits of cleanliness and a REAL process of the methods for beginners as in never topped but unnecessary later if anyone can think what it is please feel free to throw that in for Mike and I that would be great thanks. GLHF

@ keiksweat I thought it was gehetto that has everyone hoping like frogs not G ????? What do IK tho didn't really concern me lol. Glad you are still with us tho the pics look good man i absolutely love induction lights if i could afford too. Because of the new bulbs and chips/fuses every year I cant run them because it's like buying a whole new unit once a year to keep them full light as they are new IMO IDC what the company's say the manufacturer says they begin loseing at a year of running, so i am not to into that so much. However the growth the node spacing and the development stages are almost exactly like a good LED again if I could afford to buy enough of them I would run LED exclusively on everything but I think I have to say, you are taking a bit of risk with them since the Replacement parts are super spendy if one fails and you can't get new switching to cfl t5 or mh will cause confusion I have seen this first hand and always worried about this if a t5 goes out its a 25-45$ fix like new ballast or bulbs a 25.c and can be swapped for almost anything no issues that one is way more than a few bucks and doesn't play well with other lights (without it being present that is). On the other hand it does cost less to run has less chance of failure than other lamps and the light itself has more available for the plants to absorb. So it's kinda a 50/50 for me a love hate thing if you will

@yooper420 daaam these be tall as I or atleast look it heh heh loving the cages very nice and even form from the girls I bet my only questions are how tall how much roof space pot size and lastly the nutes you use?

@Grassroot432 bro you are goin strong and true, that dwc seems to be doing you well and the new light and fan seem to have been just the trick you needed for the completion of the room as a Schedule change anyway I can not remember what you were using at vegg but I'm sure it was just fine for your current needs as it were. I hope you the best on your first grow and learnsomething more about the process and new fun things for you to try out every day, I still do that is for sure. GLHF

Holy cow everyone somehow i am having a wolf spider outbreak or something like one have never even seen a wolf spider in my area yet for some reason tonight while working on the girls in the vegg room one big one then another then two at once and so on while the night went on and overall saw somewhere around 20 of them in total roaming the room and these are not smal km spiders guys these suckers are poisonous and around the size of a squash ball or soda can in diameter.... NOT COOL!!!!! I really don't like spiders that especially the ones that bite i have gotten hit by two brown recluse in my life and hope to never even see a picture of another one then to top it iff also have experianced the black death thatbis the hobo spider now that is a pain i would not witmsh on my worst enemy and not the bite either the hospital viset sickness that follows and can kilk kids and elderly bdresshshsddhd shudder shudder......... here is one i got and didnt totaly demolish lol trust me when I tell you that is a big cup and a very big spider

I am nearly complete with the vegg room and a bit stumped on where to go with it at the moment so it is on pause but did move and add a few things that will be moved again lol as soon as I figure out what to put in their place here is a pic of the corner in question.

I am currently testing a theory about cloning that I have been pondering on. it would seem I am not the only one who has thought of this either as a very select few say they do this but have no actual photos or proof of the job done. What I am looking to do is clone with only residual light (other lights in the room) on an 18/6 (i always use this tho) instead of 24hrs like most people use. I am hoping to get a better success rate this way. This theory comes from the idea that the cannabis plant mentality as a cutting is not what's going to happen to it. Instead of growing up it needs to form roots, well instead of letting it go on just thinking it is in full vegg as lights do take them away from directly hitting them and they will rethink the situation much faster than the well lit plants as well as Taking away the light I am useing a mix of 1 part nutes >10 parts water both flower and bloom together. This is done because I was told by a friend who is better than I at clones for sure that provided the rez temps stay at 68-72 the cuttings have a need for extra p-k and things like clonex are mostly just that diluted then thickened I have no reason to ever doubt, so I say it's worth a shot especially since the pathogens killed off half of the last set and the other ones are not rooting for shit due to the it having such terrible effect's happen to them. They have been like this since the cleaning of the room and I am already beginning to see a difference in the development of roots but can not be sure if they achieved this by the change or just had it ready t ok go and then had to hold until the environment was clean. So i will be working on the next set as soon as these are done and will post the results of those as well. Anyway here is a photo of them at the moment

I almost forgot to mention that theywere all beginning to get deficiency issues yellowing dieing off leafs and after the change up the leafs almost came back and everything looks great so i will definitely be interested in seeing the results of the next run i do and replicate this.

And I got the black system setup in the flower made a new rez for it since I can't for a tall drum in the room with how I plan to set it up had to make a tote to fit uner the flood table the hoses wrap around the rez criss cross on each side if you put the system in the air a few inches to a foot above the ground it becomes an rdwc setup useing a natural syphon method that this produces at 3" high works best at 7 but all the angles must be correct something my pop pop taught me before there was such a system as rdwc he used it as a tea brewer I was impressed then and now I'm even more so than before. Here is the setup

Sorry about al km the multi posts I am on a cellular phone and can't do much with it not even my run on sentence seem to be able to send part of the time lol.

I just wanted to also dmshare that i decided to make another one of the CFL hoods from another old hood of mine that I never use plus they are giving me some new sockets for my vertical lights I will be adding to the flower room for my wall to wall grow later on this year and saved me from buying them at $30-40$ here are some pics of how I did this one sure was simple compared to the first since I was able to just swap everything out and use the box that went to the original HID hood not so much on the first one had to do a complete rebuild and rethink of its attachments but i am very happy with the way both came out.

First I simply tore the components down
20150809 145207
20150809 145212

Then tried to mark it for holes to mount the socket and the box but I realized that it would be a fancy easy swap out of just the cords and sockets and use the old box. You can see the cfl box on there here so I had to tear it back down to put the old original box for the hood back on and continued
20150809 145449
to work got it finished in about 15-20 minutes or so i thought
20150809 152022
to complete but then realized I had forgotten about the buffer between the socket and the hood so tore the entire thing down again and put that on to finally be completed in 45 minutes total time lol
20150809 152935

And some spare parts for later projects

Well all think thays about all i can share today and enjoy your day/night sleep or work lol GLHF

@KiLoEleMeNt my neighborhood has been under attack by the wolf spiders as well! they have mutated and are way bigger then I have seen before!
There was north at ran across my living room with a abdomen the size of a golf ball it scared the shit out of me!!
Then I found another same size two weeks later!

Thanks for commenting, now for the questions. Top rung is at 37", plants at time of picture were 42". Last time they finished around 5', have about 5 1/2 feet of room, bend `em over if need be. Pots are called 5 gallon, but don`t hold that much. I am using Cogo`s and Sierra Natural Science for nutes. Keeping the little popcorn buds trimmed off, this should put the growth into the larger cola`s.

Spiders, spiders you say ? Really happy it`s you and not me having to deal with `em. I DO NOT like spiders, especially big ones. Make for good target practice though.

Good evening or morning...or what ever its is where you are! @KiLoEleMeNt .....many thanks for taking the time to help out and posting up those pics! It was a awesome guide to get me through the process. Hopefully I did not hack them to bad as I decided to lolipop them as well or @ least my attempt to... you hit right when you mentioned scrog...that is exactly where I am trying to end up....I was able to take a few pics before I ran off to work...I was busy running around getting what I needed to transplant them on the next week or so...The blue dream has dedinitely taking off very well...faster than I thought...The Mango Kush is not doing bad @ keeping up with them, just not as bushy and the Sunset Sherbert is responding as I expected so I have a little bucket under it to bring up to the hieght of the others...I have been learning most of this on the fly...I am learning that there are a million ways to skin this cat if you will and everyone has thier very strong opinion about things....I feel I am a good judge of character and can tell when someone is bull shitting or being arogant or whatever...And I dont feel that here...So thanks to all for helping out!

It grows wild where I am and mimics a cannibis plant to me so I snapped a pic...anyone know? Again thanks @KiLoEleMeNt! I really appreciate it man! I am dedinitely trying to stay tuned to my plants as well as keeping it simple for now...I need to get this 1st one under my belt! I have alot riding in this as well $ invested in it....It turned out as a hobby and a need for meds but is quickly turning into a passion! I will check back in later! For now imma walk in circles in the parking lot looking for cell signal!

Wuddup Farmers?! Happy wednesday all! Its just about noon out here on the west coast! Waiting for the livestream of the Adam Dunn Show! The sun is shinning and all is right with the world! Translation= mikezilla did not kill the plants hacking them up yesterday with my version of topping and lolipopping!

Dammit I post to soon always...now for the pics...say what...whahappen to the plants? Those my friends are the new smart pots the indoor ladies will soon reside in...I filled them up and watered the medium with ph correct water....I am doing this because 1. I have never used smart pots and want to see how they react with water and what to expect when the ladies are residing in it as far as how they keep moisture and so on...and Yes I know with out plants nothing is up taking the water and it will not be the same with plants in vs plants not in....just my way of familiarizing myself with things...

Here is the one I call the 3 leafed wonder! She is still ticking and not looking all that bad....I have some hope for her! However one of the branches broke so something landed on it...
