Hey all, thanks in advance for your input! Growing with Soil | Seeds | Buckets

So I bought and plan to run a 9x5 gorilla grow tent with x2 1000w Gavita DE HPS lights. I want to run a 8-10in output fan (~800 CFM) with a Phresh Carbon filter and since the tent will likely be very hot, also put in an active intake fan (6-8 inches for ~600 CFM).

On top of all of that we will put 2-3 clip-on fans inside the tent - will it still be too hot? Too much light? How can we improve our setup? Would love to hear anyones thoughts!

Cheers,
Sexmo

Hi Sexmo,, Welcome to the Farm!!
I believe heat will be an issue in your tent..

Peace

the only sure way to keep temps low with the dual 1k's ;
you are able to put your tent in a room that is closed off from rest of house, and bring in outside air through window, ducting, bashing a hole in wall ?. and chill down the room and exhaust hot air outside.
use an a/c unit in your room...( not in window) I know its winter.
I would create a window box, fresh winter air is nice...just don't let it be too cold and having it hit your ladies.

The lighting will be fine, heat will definitely be the issue to deal with. Having a powerful exhaust fan and a good intake fan at the bottom will help. The heat doesn't necessarily have to be pumped outside, just out of the room, and having some way to cool the room a little will definitely help too. I only run a 4 x 4 tent and I have a 6" clip-on in each corner, (all on low), you may want to go each corner too, that's a good size tent.

Good luck!

Great thanks guys! Papa - do you have a particular 6" clip-on you recommend? I know they're all pretty similar but we want a few good cheap ones.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.
I have 3 600 watts in a 4x8 tent. These are air cooled. I have to run my exhaust fan with a temp controller or it gets too cold.
This is in a garage. Exhaust from lights blows into the house using the free heat.
Another exhaust with a carbon filter pulling air from the tent.
I do use 2 6" inline fans. Also live in Washington state where is cooler this time of the year.

I don't use any fans inside the tent either. The fan with the carbon filter acts as a passive fan from having the vents open in the tent..
Negative pressure makes a really nice breeze in the tent when zipped up.
