Thanks for the knowledge Rs. I have read a few forums on the cree cob chips, all helpful! The numbers are starting to make sense. The spec sheets at kingbr it are for the 72 volt version only. Will specs change for 36 volt version? Ma should double for same intensity I think. Will higher amp draw affect efficiency or temp? Is there any reason to choose 36v over 72? Thanks to anyone that can help.
Specs are the same but you use 700A for 72v and 1400A for 36v and get 50 watts on each as for why I use 72v it's easier for me to get higher wattage with higher amps

Sorry I had some things to take care of. Now lets wire the driver to the extension cord. On the driver the wires are Brown +, Blue - and Green is Earth ground. On the extension cord(US) it's White +,Black - and Green is Earth ground. Here's a video I made back in May for someone who needed help wiring the driver. Make sure you add an extra wire to the ground and attach it to the heat sink and that's it. You have just made yourself a light.

what does it coast complete ?

looks nice:cool:

best greetz :)

Just got my Fluke multimeter so I can use my new Apogee PAR sensor
SAM 1120

SAM 1119

I'll do some testing tomorrow I need to wire the ends of the PAR sensor to got into my meter. I also spoke with Apogee to get the error conversions.

As promised I'll show you how I made my CXB3590 LES lights and where to get the parts from. The things you'll need.

  • Tools: drill, drill bits, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16 and a 3/16-NC18 tap
  • Misc: solder, shrink tubing, 18ga wire I use solid wire not twisted for my application, because I'm using cob holders that eliminates having to solder wire to cobs, wing nuts and #8 x 1/2" self tapping screws, thermal grease
  • Parts: 8 - Cree CXb 3590, 8 - Ideal 2303CR(cob holder), 1 - 10" x 24" heat sink, 4 - 5/16" x 3-1/4" eyebolts and 2 - 3/16" chain cut to 6 links= 1ft, 6 - spring chain links, 4 - #10-24 x 2-1/2" machine screws and 2 - #8-32 x2" machine screws with the nuts, Thermaltake Pure 20 fan Thermaltake . 15ft extension cord and a ac/dc adapter.
  • You'll need a square ruler to get your lines straight and also a marker to mark with
If you don't know what a square rule is here what it looks like

I am looking help with my first DIY Led Grow Light. I am building a COB with cxb3590s and supplemental single 3 watt Diodes with Specific NM wavelengths. My question first is which cxb3590 is the best to use 3000k or 6500k? Also which CRI is best to use? Also I need to knowdo I need to use specific wavelength diodes for the single 3watt or just ranges and if just ranges what are the best ranges? I want to create a light that is maximum efficient for Veg and Flower all in one light.

There is no need for the 3 watt diodes, all you need is 3500k for veg and bloom stages. I think it's a waste of time due to the low light penetration from the 3 watt diodes plus you'll need a separate driver to run them. Here's some pics and they are from yesterday. Thin Mint Cookies day 14 of flower

SAM 1147

They are 35" tall

SAM 1148

No mono diodes on the lights

Do I use cool white or warm white? I see that's a option when buying the cob from mouser?

When using cxb3590s to build my cob grow light do I want to buy the cool white or warm white?

So If I wanted to make a light for bloom and veg I would have to mix the cool white and warm white in the same light?

Also where should I buy the Cobs from? I found them on Mouser but the cost doesnt seem worth it. I also herd the cree cobs from king bright are fake cree and wont be covered by warrenty? Advice please

Thanks RealStyles for the info, perhaps I might build a panel in the future. I'm not the most handy guy but with these COB's out LED in general should only get better.
