Hey everyone,

I am starting a journal for my first grow, FastBuds' Grapefruit.

I am growing using Plagron Light Mix, and have a 250W HID light.

She's been planted for 11 days now. I recently started to notice a slight twist in 2 of the leaves... So I decided to start giving it just a little bit of nutrients (AN Sensi Bloom) and a bit of CalMag too. Hope her leaves will get better soon.
Here's the picture taken BEFORE starting to give any nutes:

As you can see both leaves at the top and at the bottom of the pic are starting to twist.

Will keep you posted.

Peace,

FC

Didn't ypu say in other thread you had a west coast OG I'm excited to see all of these plants take off. Good luck

Hey man,
Yeah I've got one in the fridge still. :)
Today I've put a Fast Buds' Girl Scout Cookies in a glass of distilled water for germination so that she can follow her Grapefruit older sister!
Here's tonight's updated pic by the way:
DAY 11 2

Anyone has an idea of why the leaves are starting to twist/curl?
Could it be because I waited a bit too long before feeding her? Or because of a heat stress?
Thank You!

Maybe overwatering? Do you keep the dirt moist?
Thanks for your reply! Yeah I do keep it moist. I give it bits of water 3 or 4 times a day. Probably about half a litre per day. My pots are 18L pots but I've filled them only at about 2/3 or 3/4 of their total volume. So that'd probably be about 13-15L of soil in there.
Today I started feeding her but only at 0.8mL of nutes per L of water to see how she reacts. I feel that she might be hungry though. The lamp is producing quite much heat as it is in a confined space, but I just let my cabinet doors open at the moment, and added a fan and a humidifier not too far too.

How far is the light from top of your plant? Put hand right above plant if the light starts to heat your hand up alot it's too close to plant. And you have to let your plant dry out in between waterings so water it so the soil is moist and you have runoff coming from bottom of pot. Then let dry out for 2 or 3 days how ever long it takes for plant soil to be dry one knuckle deep into soil.

I would say over watering, I don't go by how much of my top soil is dry, I go by weight, let that thing get good and dry, get a feel for dry weight and wet weight, when it's getting light it's time for water. It's a good idea to not go up too much in pot size before the plant needs it so it doesn't take a long time to dry out, better for root development too.

It was about 25-30cm but now after readjustment it should be about 30-35 cm away.
It's definitely not too hot when I put my hand up there. Just quite warm. So, for the watering, you'd recommend distancing watering but giving more water every time I water?
How much water would you recommend for a 11-day old autoflower plant?
Thank you!

If you keep the soil moist it can cause root rot, letting the soil dry between waterings makes the roots grow in search of water.
Good to know, thank you. How much water do you recommend?

Let it dry until the pot feels light when picked up and the soil is dry a few inches down. Water until it starts to run out a little stream from the drain holes, showers work great. After it is done draining move it back under light. Thats the easiest way I know, you could also mop up the runoff with a towell or clean mop.

Thank you! I'd give this a try too. I guess I just have to get used to the weight difference between dry and wet and then I'll be able to tell. Thanks again!

Yeah moisture, being it too much or not enough, from germination to flower has ALWAYS been something I learn more about with each grow. With that being said I've learned, and believe, that LESS IS MORE!
I've ruined more plants and 'plants-to-be' by overwatering.

Hey everyone,
Here's the update at day 12.
She seems to be doing a bit better and the leaves seem to have stopped twisting following her first nutrient feeding yesterday. I fed her again today but only 300mL of the water-nutrient mix, which is about 0.3mL of both Sensi Bloom A and B as well as CalMag. There is still enough for tomorrow in the bottle. After tomorrow, I'll probably slightly increase the nutrients.
Here's the pic (sorry if it's a bit hazy haha!):
DAY 12

This is not representative of the real colour of the plant. It appears as yellowish on the pic but is green when removed from under the lightspot.
Peace

@FrankieCoste nice thread I will be following along.
Just to throw my 2cents into the mix I would say that taking into consideration the pot size and the age of the plant, right now if I was you I would be feeding 1.5 litres of water and nutes every feed. I would also be watering from the outside of the pot and only putting a little splash directly at the base of the plant.

This will do 2 things the first is that the roots will grow out to the edges of the pot where the water is. Don't worry about the plant getting enough water it will because osmosis will spread the water all through the soil it will just be wetter around the edge
The second thing is that you will be able to learn how your pot feel wet and dry without the risk of overwatering or the water in the pot going stagnant and causing problems. by the end of the grow you should be watering between 2-3 litres every 3 days.

I also noticed that you are using sensi bloom a and b. I am wondering why you are using bloom so early? To get the best out of this plant you want to use sensi grow a and b for the first 5-6 weeks of its life and fully switch to bloom once the vertical growth has slowed down. in week 3-4 you will want to cut back on the grow and introduce the bloom at the same rate you cut back on the grow so if you are using a 4ml dose per litre you would do something like this

week 3
3ml grow a+b, 1ml bloom a+b

week 4
2ml grow a+b, 2ml Bloom a+b

week 5
1ml grow a+b, 3ml bloom a+b

week 6
4ml bloom a+b

also you don't need cal/mag yet start using it when you introduce the bloom.

I hope everything goes well for you buddy
