Looking For Oregon Wholesale Information

I checked out all 5 rec/med dispensaries in Hood River and The Dalles yesterday. A couple with some decent buds for sale, but several were selling (trying to sell) some mighty disappointing weed. Ugly, fluffy, leafy buds. Some definitely were not cured yet and several flat out smelled like they just came in on the hay truck. So, there are some not so picky retailers out there. I have posted before about anticipating a huge glut flooding the market in the second half of next year after new licensees are chopping there first crops. Sorry to hear that you are stuck!!

More than likely it's not that they are not picky retailers they are probably selling their own garbage, or possibly buying it for next to nothing

You are exactly right @PermaGryn I did notice that the brand offered, did in fact mimic the name of the shop. HHhhmmmm. Still, there was a huge Diff in some of the shops as expected!! Some decent and some... Welll... ...

I wouldn't doubt this. I've learned that quite a few of the retail stores are doing some sideways hustling. Stupid...it makes them look like shit and their business ethics as well. failure is inevitable

Until the shop owners learn that high dollar top quality produce brings in the repeat customers along w/ their friends, they're shooting themselves in the foot. Pretty logical thinking..

Frustrating as hell!!!!

I bet. It's just the nature of the beast these days. Every grandma and second cousin pulled in some smoke out of their backyard and wanted to sell it, so you can imagine the phone calls the stores were receiving. Just made it easier for them to just turn all o/d away.
A store my friend frequents to sell his wares, has him at the top of their list for people to purchase from. His product is perfect every time. They complain about the inconsistency of most others quality.

Well, you're probably right mittenmedgrow. I'm not letting my fire go for what farmers are here.... 900 per....which, screws everyone!

@PermaGryn Good job on hanging tough for your top shelf bud! Some of the Krap I encountered at these shops had to have been practically given away, if it wasn't in fact grown by a bunch of "friends" to sell at the shop, if not grown by themselves. Again though, some was decent bud, but a fair amount was being offered that was so green It should have had the roots and aphids still clinging to it!

Lets hope they fail soon. There will be a lot of shake up in the business at all levels once the playing field is leveled. A thought I have is that with the hoops and $$ requirements by OLCC, it may not be as bad for the Rec growers trying to make a living. However, the OMMP growers can always come in with their "excess" and keep the market $ down for those on both aspects of their grows. Don't get me wrong - I KNOW there are MANY reputable OMMP growers out there and I Fully support their honest efforts!! It may be that the pirate and shady growers that are "friends" of the retailer that will phuck the market with lowballing.

Then again, as I ramble on mindlessly, if the "Seed to Sale" requirements are truly followed by the retailers, it may not be as bad. Anybody is welcome to chime in on this bloviating buffoon!! Lol

Peace, good vibes and Merry Christmas to all!!!

There are approximately 76,000 OMMP cardholders, 36,000 OMMP caregivers and about 1700 licensed physicians with current OMMP patients. Just how altruistic are the owners of theses medical dispensaries; well look at the numbers.

Here is a link to the inspection reports so far....

Being a former OMMP card holder and grower opened my eyes to the nonsense that was taking place out there in the dispensaries. I travelled around Oregon and Washington to visit and purchase cannabis. I was taken back by quality and the lack of knowledge that some of these individuals had. Would like to add also that a Farmer from this forum invited me to Colorado to visit the happenings there. Colorado of course was heads above Oregon. Where am I going with this.....

It's a cash business and any one with the money and a qualified background check can open a dispensary. You lease a store-front (said owner makes money), you cut corners on the regulations in the hopes that you will not be inspected any time soon. Monies start to flow in immediately and you laugh your way wealth.

Enough...when I was in Colorado I was impressed with the fact that some of the dispensaries had their own grow operations on the premises.

@Derf Werfler ...like that "bloviating buffon" comment, so I just jumped on the wagon to be one to. :D

Happy Holiday's

Thanks @indicabush for jumping on the wagon! As always, you provide interesting info and insights! Due to time limits I was able to read five deficiency reports but will browse more later. It was interesting to note that all were pretty poor in filling out the paperwork concerning where and whom they purchased their product from. A pretty serious omission. Thanks again for another great read!

I think more and more states are going to adopt ta specific seed to sale system like Colorado has. That's one of the problems I'm worried about facing is purchasing 3rd party MITS and then having to go with the state one a year or two down the line. These things add up.

Thanks for chiming in @ArcticOrange !! Please forgive me tho, can you please explain MITS?

Props!

Derf

Lucky in my state we have 2 licenses limited cultivation and full scale. Limited is 500sqft. I feel like I can do alot of cultivation with 500 sq ft used efficiently.

@ArcticOrange What are the costs there for the two diff licenses?
