Yeah of course mate, if you read some of the threads on here by SuprsSPL he lays out the costs n stuff for a 2x2 n 3x3 light etc n then you just create multiple units etc to cover whatever area you need to

Its all to do with having a camera with a shutter speed/frame rate faster than the light waves or something, my missus is into her cameras

Roughly, but don't take my word on it. It all depends wherebyou live and where you're ordering from. You can buy your parts online cheap but the customs are gonna get medieval on your ass if they open the package.

yeah the idea is roughly 400W COB will replace/match a 600W HPS but every single component can be replaced/upgraded individually etc so you shouldnt have to buy another light till the next generation of technology takes over etc

How many bulbs do you buy a year? With LEDs, if built right, you have no maintenance for the next five years and not loosing significant output. Whats the cost of the bulbs and units across five years?

Counting W for W, HPS has initial output of 130lm/W starting degrading once you turn it on. LED has initial output of +150lm/W loosing max 25% (usually about 5%) after 50K hours dependingnon the manufacturer but you can easily take that to 100K hours.
The rest depends on the spectrum. With LED you can grow seed to harvest with the same unit, wirh HPS not so good of idea.

Kinda looking at it from the wrong angle, its not 3x600W you need to replace, its how many sq/ft of growing area do you want to cover? i.e. just because you have 3 "lights" now doesnt mean anything when you swap over to COBS, it6s how big is the area and how much light do you want on that area etc
