Does anyone have experience amending their coir with gypsum? Apparently it adds to aeration as well. Got the idea here: https://www.thcfarmer.com/community/threads/meeks-2013-dapper-grow-log.53463/page-14#post-1100572 (post #263)
@nMEEKS suggested 150g/50l (approx 1.75 cu ft, or a standard bag)

Maybe amending crab meal in the first pot for veg (for the calcium and chitin) and gypsum in the final pot for the end of veg and flower (for the calcium and sulfur).
I have used gypsum in coco coir.

fyi, Nmeeks is growing with a custom salt mix/ water soluble nutrients.

He is unable to get higher calcium levels in the soil from calcium nitrate without adding more nitrate and calcium.
The thinking is to add gypsum to try and bring up the calcium levels.

Hope that helps

@We Solidarity Well said. Are you running 2 gallon pots or 3 gal?

Honestly depends on the size of the plant...what matters more I've noticed is that in coco you don't want to start flowering until the plant is drinking daily, and to water multiple times daily during flowering. Yields go way way up and you still keep the quality coco is known for.

peat's not renewable and will eventually run out - I like to grow responsibly and since I'm not recycling media coco is the way to grow. Plus I've never seen a cutting root a whole 1 gallon pot in two weeks until I started using coco.
My 2gal bags were completely filled with coco last run. There was no coco to recycle, just root mass.

Rice hulls don't float and are cheap.
Perlite is better minerals. I've used both personally.

CoCo made a believer out'a me for sure bro. I used to be a die hard rockwool guy but i tried it 3yrs ago and am never goin back. I've done straight coco, perlite, grorocks. Ive used canna, roots organic, botanicare, and GH. At first i used to pre wash it, charge it and a bunch of unnecessary crap, none of the brands i mentioned need either wash or charge. Ive also germinated and rooted clones in straight coco. The coco contains a naturally occurring hormone that encourages root growth and aids in the process for cuttings. I just dip in clonex and plant it in the coco. I've kept using my gro rocks in the bottom of my fabric containers just to keep the roots from remaining in the runoff in the saucer. Eventhough i vacuum all my runoff. Perlite is good for aeration but if used in excess leads to the coco drying out pretty quickly. Th a ts something you want to avoid at all costs. I use fabric pots and dont think coco needs it. Either way i think you cant v go wrong bro. Coco loco is great for seedlings because it brings micro nutes... best of luck.
(With coco, you wont need it) PEACE
