Buy a 100L ethanol extractor like Eden labs makes
Then put that product through the clear machines?
I have a legal lab in CA and we can't use butane.
I'm imagining this would work great.

I mean couldn't you extract everything initially with a HUG Ethanol extractor instead of BHO then use a kugelrohr?

After removing the ethanol, we run it through either a Kugelrohr, or a Trommel molecular still to produce Clear.

The Kugelrohr does a good job, but is relatively slow. The Trommel is fast but still in R&D, so alternatives include the Pope or Meyers molecular stills.

Then continue through the clear process.

My second choice of solvent would be 190 proof Ethanol.

I think Eden Lab's unit is alcohol recovery, versus alcohol extraction.

Extraction is relatively fast and best done in smaller batches, but recovery can take awhile, hence the thin film vacuum recovery designs like the Heidolph 5 liter rotovape and the Eden Labs unit, which uses a stir bar to create the thin film.

This is about as clear as I have produced from BHO. I have had clearer one time but did not take a pic..

@Graywolf will winterizing with Everclear help clear it up any further than where I am at now?

has anyone tried takeing your oil winterizing it then doing this then short path distillation my guess is your clear would actually be clear not amber? because of the decollorant agent i picked this one in particullar because it says it leaves behind aromas and takes the color so i would guess it would not filter the terps out so you could collect them aswell? just a guess im in no way a educated chemist just a hobbyist any feedback would be greatly appreciated

ive also heard the terps have hold alot of the color in them which makes the me wonder about the terps in general like how this would effect the different sized chain terps or how this method of removeing color would affect the terp yield or quality in general being afterwards ran through a short path setup?

Most of the monoterpenes are colorless or close to it. The triterpenes are where most of the color resides.

dude thankyou so much you are the only person i can find that knows about this stuff i have one final question (id ask more but dont want to be annoying) when i re condense my vapor in the shortpath its my understanding that the bumpy glass piece is designed to re condense my vapor to liquid because of surface space of the glass and density of vapor then its re condensed further and this part is where i am a little iffy i want to get the best re condescension without use of explosive gases or chemicals ive heard acetone and dryice works great together but like i said im anti explosive so i was wondering would dryice work alone or would that not touch enough surface area or would i be better off if i use water and dryice or water and regular ice? and would one compared to the other have a huge difference in the re condensing yield? ive also read about the dryice and acetone condensing oxygen which is also explosive so im a little scared of that one being i am not a chemist thankyou very much for answering all my questions i really appreciate the knowledge being shared :)

I use methanol alcohol and dry ice. While it is flammable, not much vapor at those temperatures and they are clouded in CO2, excluding oxygen. It is important to have good ventilation with open containers of Methanol.

Temperature and vacuum control are key to short path distillation, and typically paths are kept short.

Except for the Kugelrohr, we use commercial chillers to maintain the different zones at subzero temperatures.

We have found as for short path, make sure to buy a machine with a residue recycling feed system, just makes life easier, and more precise control of vacuum .
