Designing A Drip System

I want to set up a drip system similar to this one:

The drip systems I have been using consist of a pump inside a reservoir connected to a mainline and some feeding lines hooked to that line with emitters on the end who always clog up, the pots nearest to the res get fed more water etc. Really basic stuff that gets the job done but is not that functional.

There I see a water filter, the pump outside the res, octabubblers at the end of the mainline and it all looks complicated and really functional.

Do the Octabubblers supply the same amount of water to each pot?
Is the water filter to make sure the system doesn't clog?

I use tap water and grow in coco - I have (50) 5 gallon pots, one row of 4x8 tables and one row of 3x9 tables and these next few days I need to build a drip system and would love some help on the matter, something that doesn't clog and that supplies the same amount of water to each pot - then I'll be a happy camper!:)

You need a strong pump. Leader makes a submersible pump. If you don't use a submersible, then you need to use an inline pump which requires a bulkhead in your res.

Inline filters and a pump filter bag is necessary to prevent most of the clogs.

The amount of water that is supplied by each line is dependent on the pump, how long of a drip system you have, whether you use pvc or rubber hosing, and a bunch of other random factors. It needs a lot of testing so no one can give you a precise answer. You need to set it up in your grow room and then test the run time. Use sprinkler valves to divide it into sections to maintain the necessary head pressure.

I don't have access to a lot of things locally but I can order online. For instance it will be hard to find inline filters and pump filters here - is there a website where I could order most of this stuff from?

I've been using Hailea submersible pumps which is the only brand of pumps sold in growshops here (there are only two).

I want to use PVC this time around.

i would look at greenhousemegastore for cost comparison on parts needed. i think they have a couple different sized kits that might be most of what you'll need.

A sprinkler valve is a valve that is controlled by your irrigation timer. When it turns "on", it allows water to pass through. It is used to divide up system into manageable parts, like front lawn, back lawn, planters, etc. The other important reason is to make sure you have enough pressure so that water comes out of the tubing.

An octabubbler is just a compact watering manifold. You can design a similar thing with PVC. What people do is they run 1/2" OD tubing, put a cap at the end, and then pop 1/4" holes with barbs and drip lines into the pots.

Hey sorry I know this thread is older but I'm doing something similar going into a 4x4 tent and In that tent I have usually 9 5gal pots sometimes less usually different strains. Anyway I hooked up a twelve site octa bubbler threw three goof plugs in put 1/4in lines to each pot with some cheap adjustable sprinkler emmiters on the ends. The water going to each pot was all over the place so my question is what pump SHOULD I be using the pump I have is some weak fountain pump and what emmiters should I use in that situation I know those are junk too... Any help would be cool this is the first in home drip system I've tried to do and I'm looking for precise delivery I failed at that lol thanks.

I just built an auto water system
My only part is mixing nutes and turning on and off pump
Starts with two 135 gallon reservoirs plummed to a 1.5 hp pool pump
2" pvc throughout
Then 3/8 polyeurothane tubing is connected with john guess fitting
Waters 156 plants in 30 seconds
Beautiful set up
The key for equal pressure is creating a loop of pvc from the supply line
Water runs the easiest course so the 2" will fill up along the table then flow out the poly tubing
I created a halo with a (T) that loops around the stalk

Bigger the better
U won't damage a pump restricting the output only restricting the intake

So you are using no emitters with yours? Just a self made halo?

Octa bubblers don't require a loop ime and provide more even pressure than any halo system I built

I just bought 2 big sand pit trays for kids...work great,only problem is the rounded corners.£15 for the 2...mates rates.there around £10 each.ill try n get a picture pal.those garland trays are a rip off.
£35 for 3x3.....no way...
