Cant remember if it was on here or a yt vid the other day but I saw a great method of potting up seeds. Whereby you put them in a pot that is only part filled with grow medium then if they stretch to far as some strains seeds do, you can simply fill up round the edges rather than transplant it! Sorry if Im plagarising this very thread or even if Im not and simply stating the obvious, I thought it was a great idea!:)

I've been doing this since the very beginning.

Ur def stating the obvious but if ya grow seeds proper they wont stretch to the point of falling over. When i pop seeds once theyre about 1" tall i drop my t5's down to about 4" from the seeds and they grow nice n stocky

Yes agreed nearer is better but I only have 1 x 4 tube 2' t5 a v small prop cupboard and cuts etc at various heights, it gets kinda fiddly balancing pots on stuff to get them nearer the light in such a small space.

No Im gonna use the method toaster has used since the beginning and you confirmed I was stating the obvious. So i guess yes a little lanky till i fill them sides in.

How bout ya grow some nice stocky seeds instead and use the backfill methid if all else fails? If all ur popping is a few seeds then just use a lil cfl over em

Honestly, its simply a space issue, I really have no space left to set anything else up. Shame I dont have power in my loft as Id put seedlings up there with a small cfl. The power that feeds my lights on the ceiling below was already boarded over when I bought it. So tapping into one of them isnt straightforward either without pulling up a board and yep you guessed it my loft is already full of stuff!

Doesn't sound like a "can do" attitude. ...

Like I say, its a very small space and that just gets really fiddly specialy when you have to start lifting shit up like prop lids etc to water. The amount of times Ive knocked it all over in the past Injust dont like doing it, thats all. I dont mind propping stuff up in veg if shorter due to bigger pots etc...
