My Experience Growing Aurora Indica

I have to say that I am relatively pleased with these seeds from Nirvana. I'm in a very Mediterranean climate, growing an indica. The only problems I've had so far, 5 weeks into the bloom is Septoria leaf spot, I believe. I sprayed with baking soda and it subsided. Yet, leaves started yellowing and falling off here and there at a pretty good pace again not shortly after that. I couldn't tell if I still had Septoria again or if it was a part of the bloom phase/maturation process, etc. I sprayed and and kept it cleaned up. I started watering a bit more and there seems to be a lot less yellow leaves now. So, maybe it was just a lack of water. I know the bucket is filled with roots at the end of the grow and it needs more water. I am also flushing.

I got this strain (Aurora Indica) because I wanted a nice night time med to help me relax and go to sleep. In tasting some early samples I find I am not sedated at all. I figure that a) It's an early sample, so there's going to be more of a head high, they say. b) I've been toking mostly trichome rich kief from it and I get a nice, happy, still functioning and no-couched lock buzz. I read that I'm probably not getting much CBD action from smoking trichomes alone. The words "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get" comes to mind. I believe, I may also be enjoying some Thai grandparent traits from this seed as Northern Lights (one of the parents) is a child of Thai Landrace strains and Afghan Kush. I believe that the warmer climate and the early harvest may also help bring out these traits. It's very interesting and I had to write about it. Open to learning all I can.

I know that if I let it mature a little longer, it will become more sedative. I'm just waiting for the trichomes to get that amber hue. It's hard for me to recognize when they turn milky, cloudy or opaque. It's an outdoor grow with minimal time in the direct sunlight (dang. if i could only grow it out in the open. it get the sun. but, it would also get stolen.). I do seem to recognize an amber tint in the trichomes. There are some (not 5% yet) that are amber.

One thing I have to say about this bud, however, is that it is THE SMOOTHEST smoke I've had in a long, long time, possibly ever. My last crop of Fruity Pebbles and UK Cheese wasn't that great. Both were flushed well but were very harsh on my throat and lungs. But, this strain is the bomb when it comes to smoking quality. It is extremely easy on my throat and lungs, even though I am sampling it before it's been completely flushed. I'd recommend this strain for that trait alone. Another thing I have to say is that the high is very uplifting and happy, great mood enhancement with no lethargy. I feel a nice, but not over powering body buzz, all the little aches and pains go away and the body relaxes. But, the UP factor of what I have is a nice mellow, calming high, yet uplifting and happy. Maybe even energized a bit. Not focused. But, not spaced either. It seems to be delivering some sativa traits and is making a nice day time smoke.

Just sharing my experience with a strain called Aurora Indica. I may update after final harvest. We'll see if it's more sedative after a good cure as well. Aloha.

what were the flavor and was it colorful at all
It has a mild, sweet flavor and smell when burning. It's curing now with the hopes that it will bring out more of those sweet smelling terps that are in there.
But, it's really mild on my throat and lungs. Great smoke for beginners as it is not too strong. It's more like taking a couple of aspirin for me. My son tried it and said it makes you feel just right. Very mild head high with a nice warm/comforting body buzz. The high doesn't seem to last that long, however. Maybe better after the cure.

The buds/blooms had, most of the time, a light blue tint to them. When the adjoining sun leaves start to turn yellow, it has been a pretty sight. Plenty of visible frosting on the buds.

I'll update in a couple of weeks. Aloha

Flushing? Yes

Early for outdoor? I'm in Hawaii and they never get 18 hours of direct sunlight. So, outdoors, with no help from any lights, you get 2 to 3 months of veg and then it goes into bloom. Almost like the AFs except a much longer veg time. Not bad. No need them getting real big if I am trying to stay stealth.

Pics? I'm trying. I'm slow at the computer.

Thanks.

There was a grower on the boards yrs back. Silverback? He swore by AI....seems he fell off a cliff out checking his OD. And was critically injured. He and I talked about the old school genetics...he said with a large run of seed a killer pheno could be found....old afghan type. I may just try it. Thx for sharing your grow

I know this is an older board but I would like to update this for anyone else looking to grow Aurora Indica. First of all this is an outdoor grow and I purchased my nirvana AI seeds from seedsman. Everything I read has said this is a small fat bush that maxes out around 1 meter tall. My pheno must be an exception to the rule. My plant is 4 1/2 to 5 feet and I topped her and she is fat too. I live in California and I am about 6 weeks into flower and wow, what an oldschool Bubblegummy type of smell. It smells absolutely amazing and is very sticky. I have grown many different types of strains (OG, Blue Dream, Skywalker, GDP, Sour D, Bubba, etc) and this is just a pleasure to have besides them in the garden. I live in Southern California and have access to a lot of clones but I still throw down a few seeds now and again. I too have noticed that a few leaves on the bottom were susceptible to septoria but not much. This strain is a little bit picky with nuts so I used 1/3 the amount of some foxfarm nuts and WOW. Blue Dream can take way more nuts and OG takes in tons of cal-mag but AI is a little sensitive so be careful with her
