Rosin,how Much Pressure Is Necessary? 20 Ton Vs. 30 Ton

I'm looking into geta Baileigh industrial 30 ton air hydraulic H-frame press and using Rosinworks 2.5 ×5 universal spring return kit and upgrading to a rosinator plate . I'm curious if a 30 ton press is worth it or if I should just go the cheap route and get a 20 ton press. I'm looking to spend between 1500 to 3k. Any advice on cheaper springed cage set Ups?

A LOT of the people here uses 8-12 ton presses.

I say look for good plates and good electronic and not worry so much about tge tonnage

I rock a 20ton h frame from harbor freight. I doubt I go over 12t at most. Also get good quality plates.

30 ton is way overkill imo.

Check out my sig, if you want to check mine out. Just getting used to it, and the bubble bags are coming this week. SO more to come, but I only use a 12 ton. It bends my steal beams on my frame, the 20 and 30 ton presses would ruin my frame.

My platens larger than yours also, I use 3"x7" bags, and they are pancakes when done.

1. Thanks for the quick responses, I hope to be processing quite a bit of material and would like to be smashing about 7g to 14g or more per press,what are the biggest plates a harbor freight use while still reaching optimal psi?3x5?6x6?

Upgrade the shitty grade 4 bolts/hardware to grade 10 before your press explodes and hurts or kills you.

Bigger plates does NOT mean better yeilds. I went from a 3x5 plates, to a 4x7, then back to a 3x5.

@ExtractedColorado is the guy I bought mine from. I think I spent around 2250 on mine, before all the extras. That is the jack, frame, controller, and platens. Jack came from Harbor freight, and you can buy a frame from them also. However extracted made me a custom one where the jack comes from below, in case oil comes out the pump. When they blow, that is what happens. Been super happy for what it's worth, but only spent about 48 hours pressing so far, and only flowers. I have been pressing untrimmed littles, with the sun leaves pulled off, and getting between 8 and 15%. Have gotten 20% on trimmed nugs, and the nugs tested at 24%. Pretty good in my book.

Also, pressed don't explode bro.......... They will bend, and crease, but no explosions.

My old bho maker steered off the oem grade 4 bolts in 1 week.

To each their own. I always error on the side of caution. Being a former Auto Painter and Mechanic, I do think trust grade 4 bolts with 20t of pressure.

I do 3 oz in about 2 hours with flowers. More like 20 min when I get my kief bags. When working with two people, one stuffing one pressing, you can work through 10 lbs of flower a day with Extracted's machine. With a compressor.

Are you pressing trim? I like to spin my in the pollen tumbler first. Any reason you prefer trim to keif?

Omega leaf probe thermometer -$300.00
Anything else I should get other than micron bags?

30 tons is guaranteed to rupture the bags and you don't want that to happen.

Thanks I'll be getting a 20 ton now with pressure gauges. Any specific plates in Mind? I'm leaning toward stainless steel rather than aluminum.

I wouldnt press Bud or trim. Either buble Hash ot or Dry sift it before pressing. Thus way you can press more Rosin and have less Rosin trapped in the plant material.

I agree with you there. I would rather press Kief or bubble Hash tgan buds or trim.

Going to surprise you but would lean towards aluminium because aluminum transferrs heat better than Stainless.

You want the heat distributed as evenly as possible.

Since the Rosin will not be contacting the aluminum.

If you Pressed stems that would tear the parchment paper i would go Stainless.

I say press only bubble Hash or Dry sift on aluminium plates

maybe consider stainless platens if using metal bags instead of nylon.
