Checking on my seedlings today.
I gently uncovered each one to verify all was good.
All 4 had cracked and emerged at least the tap root.
Then re-covered them back up with soil.
But the critical super silver haze has another story.
When I was preparing the seed I was peeling off a light layer of skin or membrane off the seed shell with my fingernails. I wasn't prying to open it or anything. Just figured it would allow the shell to soak up water. When a piece of the shell came off along with what looked to be a chunk of the embryonic Cotyledons.
I thought "shit I ruined it" but figured I'd give her a chance to survive. So I dug a hole in the soil and dropped her in.
So when I was digging I was surprised at what I saw.

Not only is it alive. But it's coming out backwards.
It's rootbound in its seed. You can see the massive missing chunk of Cotyledons.
I had to remove the shell.

Then I buried her root while leaving the Cotyledons barely above ground. They will turn green with chlorophyl by tomorrow and start producing food.. I just need to make sure her pot doesn't dry out since she's buried so close to the surface.
