My tap water PH is ~7.2, after it goes through reverse osmosis its 7.6, these are to high correct?

Do I go by the PH of the water or the runoff of the plant?
Thanks

Only when you have problems do you check runoff. .. your input is crucial to nutrient availability

Ok so im shooting for a PH of 6.5 for my feeding water, thanks man.
I do have a PH down here so Ill start playing with it.

I have noticed that the ph went down after the water set for about 20-30 minutes. Learning alot first week on the job!

Ya youll want to swing it for a great grow.... ranging from 6.5 to hit you manganese, iron and boron and then go up to 6.8ish to hit your npk ca and mag proper... youll be perfectly fine with a straight grow at 6.8 though

hey mccaveman. my ph is 7.2 before reverse osmosis but 4.8 after. your after values seem high

so i notice when i mix the recommended doze of GH flora-nova 3 part into a gallon of rain water, the pH ends up down to 5.0 PH or lower and the E.C. ends up around 1.5 E.C.

So i then add TAP water in an effort to raise the pH, so i add enough TAP water until the pH rises up to 6.0, once it gets to 6.0 pH i notice the EC drops to 1.2 E.C.

So i'm wondering if it's ok to use TAP water to raise the pH of a solution of GH 3 part and Rain water ??

I am sure you can but you would risk adding all the chemicals that come along with the tap water to your rain water. Mad Farmer makes a good pH up and I think that would be a better option. Just my take on it.

Your R/O should be close to 7'ish and a ppm of 14 or less. Make sure you have at least 40psi water pressure or the filter doesn't work right.

Using r/o gives you the opportunity to grow the cleanest cannabis possible. Everything you add (except pH up) can be food for the plant. Using r/o also gives you the most predictable ppm and pH changes. ;)

Absolutely it is ok. A lot of folks, including myself, cut RO water with tap because of the buffers in tap. It helps stabilize your ph. In pure RO, balancing ph is complete bitch, but adding some tap and/or RO waste water helps a lot.

My hydro setup hardly fluctuates from 5.8 with this method

I should clarify how much I cut RO, shouldnt I. I aim for 40ish ppm water when I'm filtering. I can always add more tap if I need it. Good luck everybody

Yes exactly the tap water buffers help make the water/ nutrient solution very ph stable.

I notice to lower the ph of tap water it requires so much more ph down than filter or rain water.

I've been experimenting and finding that when I mix a gallon of 60% tap and 40% rain or filter water and add the nutrients it ends up right at 6 pH and that works very well in perlite hempy buckets, and no need to add pH adjusting solutions.

I take it you've not changed locations since you started growing. Tap water everywhere has slight to massive differences. I always recommend new growers learn how to use straight R/O only. Not only does it grow cleaner, smoother, cooler smoking cannabis, it's rock solid predictable, for pH and ppm changes.

Many a grower has taken the time to learn how to grow great hydro, with R/O and tap or simply tap. Then when they move to a new water source they end up having to re-learn all over again, often with a significant amount of frustration and failure involved.

right and there is the Temperature factor and how it affects the pH, I rekon one could ride the pH swing using temperature, like when the light comes on and starts to warm up the room etc. but that must require sophisticated or advanced grow knowledge..
