For what it is bro u could probably get rid of the 600 and replace it with a decent 400 with a normal reflector and get the same results and save a bit of £ on leccy

Cool tubes have a place i think..If its a 1-3 light op in a small tent....sometimes its more cost effective to cool the light then the room (e.g A/c units)....6%. loss from the glass...is negligable for such a small space and the benifits of a better enviro?? ....

Penetration and bud density are great, the tip of your buds can be a couple of inches from the bulb with no stress to the plant. Yields are on par with the adjustas. I'm not talking about those huge 1.2m2 parabolics

The 80cm.ones ? Gro stars?.... its defo food for thought! As manc said earlier if you have the meters and your hitting PAR nums then does it matter??

This is what I'm trying to say bro it's what ever fits u the best but u will never get me saying there's anything good about cool tubes not ever lol
Saying this though I will agree they do have a place in the fucking bin @whitebob bro ask @Mr Bee if he's got a snap of the 1 I sent him if your guna use air cooled I would defo recommended 1 of those over a cool tube they ain't expensive either I think there's about £5 diffrence I sent all mine back and swapped em when i had a change of idea on a set up otherwise I would have sent u 1 I had a load sat there for a while brand new

thanks bud i will do that... I've got the wing things on my cool tube which do help a lot and i got the longest one i could fit in the room so as to provide more reflector and less shade spots... I'm getting 1 gm / watt so pleased at the mo...

From experience a cooltube is great in the right space.

The fact I can bring my hps within "4-"5 from the canopy is great. Making the light intensity on the canopy higher. Along with establishing an engineered heat safety zone above the canopy.

The bulk of the heat created off the bulb is carried away removing it from the grow space.

People suggest cooling your bulb reduces spectrum. What happens when your environment averages °86-°87 and the heat from your tent is the air used to carry away the heat off the bulb. This makes it so the spectrum is less affected.

The only cons I see,

The light spread isn't very consistent. But is heavy focused in a column the shape and direction of the cool tube glass.

The glass blocking some of the uv light. But it doesn't seem to cause me any problems. Hps bulbs don't emitt much anyways.

Hey bro the beast is grown under a cooltube :)

Downloadfile 1

My tent is very small and spec'd for 250 watt hps. So overdriving the space with a 400 watt hid required me to remove as much heat as possible.

The cooltube was the smallest air cooled fixture I could fit in my tent

The small tent helps reduce the uneven light spread of the cooltube via the reflective walls.

It has its places to be used for sure.

Brother I hope u can accept this for what it is which is some constructive criticism but u have a couple of school boy errors going on in there 1st 1 being that tube 2nd 1 being the positioning of your clip on fan the air needs moving through the canopy not having all the hot air blown from your light through the canopy if that makes sense. If your guna use clip ons like that I suggest at least 2 of them in oposing corners around half way down your canopy to avoid this and when the oposing air from both fans hit it will dispense the air more evenly. Now time for the tube have u tried a 250 in there ? U will get a much more even growth paterns and heat won't be so much of an issue especially with your new placement of fans blowing the hot air away from the plants and up into the filter I would put money on you getting more from a 250 in that tent than a 400 and probably much better even grade. Like I said brother I ain't trying to be a dick just trying to share some of my own experience with u we have been growing in tents in the UK for a very long time and me and my guys get max everytime from external temps from sub zero to 43c personally I don't really like tents either when I started growing they didn't exist it was tools and a decent knowledge of the building trade was the only way like for instance in that space u have there I would have just got some sticky zips some white black white which is 100% light proof unlike standard panda film and made a door and gained the extra head height which again would have assisted in gaining the correct vpd hope this helps Bro

er...how about a good led....they run much cooler and do a better job .....PAR excellence !
We was testing the bud master led in spain tbh the veg growth wasn't as bad as I thought it was guna be bur the Spanish police got the plants before the got finished so can't really give u a honest answer how they would have done but everyone I know that has used hps then tried led have all gone back to hps or even cmh @keiksweat is a example of this he's gone all in for cmh and will probably sell u his leds if he hasn't already got rid if u are looking for any more

well find out if you can as I may take up your kind offer, I still have all my hp's and mh as I was sceptical too - my first recent crop was a mix of hps and led and I got some trees going, due to a security scare I had to shut down for a few months, the autos did well under the led alone ,I still had 3 weeks to go on the trees when I had to bail.
I just flipped this crop and they are responding well so far, like I said I will put some pics up when they start to flower and you can judge for yourself. I've got to earn the costs back of the led's regardless so we will see.

I hear u bro u took the plunge now keiks didn't do too bad all his buds looked long and dense so u can defo pull grade and pull some weight I just don't think it's what they make out on paper and no match for decent hps or cmh but ad long as u can make it pay I guess it's a win

wouldn't mind adding some reds and far red leds to my cmh 315s, but I'm sold on these ,as they are....you get your dimmlux set going yet manc?
No bro it's all sat there gathering dust lol had loads on atm and right now I'm away back for 2 days and away again so probably make that priority when I get back from my missions lol

i ve added a couple of cfls in the dimmer corner of my room just to help spread a bit more light around... I've had some nice bits off just cfls in the past too...

I'm afraid the mankdank is right bob.cool tubes are pretty poor.the plants directly underneath tend to be TOO HOT or atleast get more light than plants in the corner.the light spread is pretty poor in my experience.the bigger ones with hinged glass work best I find.easier to access the bulb wereas on cool tubes you need to remove the ducting from one side to change a build and that's a major pain.you can pick up a good one for £50iah but remember to order one that's the right size for the extractor u have
