"Calcium deficiency is a plant disorder that can be caused by insufficient calcium in the growing medium, but is more frequently a product of low transpiration of the whole plant or more commonly the affected tissue. Calcium plays a major role in cell elongation and is an important component in cell walls; structurally it acts like cement between cells. Calcium moves up the plant via transpiration; if light levels are too low or there is high relative humidity, calcium deficiency can occur in young shoot tips. Calcium is an immobile nutrient, which means that it cannot be translocated from older tissue to the shoot tip. Therefore new growth is severely reduced. Although calcium may be adequate in the lowermost leaves, levels in the growing tip region can be too low, causing poor leaf expansion followed by necrotic patches in the young leaves. Complete necrosis of the shoot is the advanced stage causing the inability of the reproductive structures to form. If flowers were present when calcium levels become devastatingly low in the substrate, bud abortion occurs." ill be keeping cal bottle on hand.

Got this @ the store. I'm so easily persuaded. I'm not running any c02 at the moment. But my brother always gets on me to. My question is do you think this is worth 35 dollars? Supposed to be used up to a 4x4 space last 6 months. Grows edible mushrooms to boot or so says the sales lady . Thanks for any insight guys.

The Kirk Manchester story..
Am writing a bio of my life here's one of the stories...
Many years ago Denver had a massive snow storm in September.
All the trees were full of leaves so every tree and i mean every tree in Denver suffered major damage, broken limbs caused power outages it was a real mess all over the front range.
The city opened up a dump site for limbs only on the just closed Lowery air force base 2 blocks south of my house.
Was open for couple of months I had a tree service, High Country Tree service and I dumped there at least once daily.
They posted signs, closed as of such and such a date, $1,000.00 fine for unauthorized dumping.
One after noon I was dumping a load after they closed it and this truck stopped and this fella got out.
Oh shit I thought what to do. I carried on dumping and he came running up asking who said you could dump here?? He was the security guard...
The first thing come to mind was..
Kirk Manchester. He is the western division coordinator for the entire Lowery transition clean up..
Dunno where the hell it came from but he bought it hook line and sinker.
He replied well if Manchester said it ok carry on...
About a month later a huge tub grinder came and they hauled it all off.
There were other piles so I continued to dump debris for a couple of years till most al of the construction was done. I also got a whole season of firewood from the many standing elm trees, drop em right on the spot buck up into logs split up a cord with log splitter I brought to site, deliver done deal.
They were tearing down the base and building track homes like crazy.
Then one day while dumping there he was.
He told me he no longer buys my story and I have been dumping here way too long.
I came back that well yes we are at the tail end of the project and Manchester is no longer in charge speak with Rich Henderson...Before I could continue with my BS He said dump this load and from now on off limits do not let me catch you here again..
Dump cost $55.00 I was spoiled so I would get up before dawn and do a quick dump and run for several more months till they completely cleaned up..
Manchester to the rescue.....

My friend John Duffy.
One of the best.
John passed in 96 way too soon. He was one of a kind, funny as hell and one of the very best pickers ever.
He would enjoy responding to audience heckling...
I once yelled out at a show..Hey John take that cucumber out of your pants...He paused and replied.. I already did..
Played for many years at The Birchemere a small club in Alexandria Va. every Thur night.
I as an airline employee free travel would fly out and see them many time ..

Was so lucky to see so many amazing shows which at the time I did not have any idea history was being made...
This thanksgiving day at Winterland ball room San Francisco I will never forget..
