Whats up fellow farmers? Currently in the middle of putting together a 6 site uc system and wanted to know what size airpump are you uc guys running? What brands are you buying?
Thanks alot

U just wanna make sure its well over rated.more o2 u can pump to them obviously better.im n dwc 18gal totes(which holds 9gal of water) each.i use 300gal,4outlet for every 4 totes.i use 60gal,2outlet for veg and thats in 10gal(holds 5gal) totes.

If you look around on here... There is a thread that reads" air stones doing more harm than good?"
I would look into this thread ... It has been proven that air stones and pumps DO cause more harm to the root zone than good. So if I were you... I would not buy a single air pump. save your money and electricity.

Not entirely true.if you grow in dwc go head in turn your pumps off for a day.lmfao.let me kno how that wrks out for u.ha.depends on how you grow/medium.plants need o2...thats pretty much common sense

Could Air Stones Be Doing More Harm Than Good?
Read through this thread.

Na.they wrk in my area great.used them 10+ yrs.i can only speak for dwc,but just dnt b a scrub and clean yur stones/airlines every reservoir change.never had root problems or root rot.

Im going to use the airstones regardless of what that thread says. It seems every system ive seen uses airstones. Anyway i have a 6 site 5gal buckets. Ill be using hydroton for my grow medium, no co2 and im not entirely sure how much water itll take to fill the system yet.

Smart move. Cant believe everything ya read on here

Brands of the pumps dont matter so much.just get aquirum pump there made to run 24/7.u said a 6site setup.i can only assume they r 5gal each.so u have a total of 30gal overall.they hav some 60gph/2outlet pumps at wally mart for 10.82 ea.just stay way over rated on gph/to how many gal total yyr system uses.so id say 3 of those pumps will pump plenty of o2

Regardless of whatever that thread says yur making the right decision bout pumps n airstones...there r some super book smart guys on here that over analyze things..every plant needs o2 to be able to complete photosythesis....its thats simple.

You are correct.. But what I am saying is that there is a better , more cost effective, way to get oxygen to the rootzone.
Do you have a "DO" meter? Can you tell me how efficiently your air pumps are working? Do you know how much oxygen is in our "air" How long does it take to raise your "DO" levels in your water?

Im my opinion... that is a terrible reason to use something.
Good luck!

You can never have enough bubbles and also have something on hand to deal with chilling the water. That's 2 of the most common errors for folks in dwc.

No,no meter...i use 300gal pumps for 4 seprate 18gal totes.and times that by 24 totes.each tote holds 5gal cause that lasts me 1wk until i clean totes, airstones, lines that r n the soup...300gph thats 75gph to each tote, for only 5gal of water..even if its doing 60gph not 75 im killing it...if you r 3times the volume u put in totes compared to pumps yur well over basic needs...specialy wen using hid lights.they need more of everything..even nutes....mine easily handel 1400ppm n flower..they r not happy below 1100.

Shit i use to flower in 30gal trash cans, getting over a peter plant with one 300gph pump(same i use now) n 1 can..sometimes people over think things, and that confuses newbs...water is easier then soil...until u over think it.

@cannabeans Idk why its a terrible idea. Airstones in buckets are a tried a true method. Im not trying to reinvent the wheel here. Maybe once i get a fee more grows under my belt are start experiment with stuff.

@CharmCity915 I plan on having a chiller as well. Just didnt realize they cost so much.

If yur on concrete yur good.giv them straight cold ass water outta the tap..it wont raise above 72°.66-69 is optimal but even at 72 yur good...trust me

Im on concrete but ill probably run the system with my lights first just to monitor everything beforehand. If temps stay in range then I'll let it ride.
