The plant is about 1 month now and it seems like it got to 5.5in tall and stopped growing. Some of the tips of the leaves are brown (lack of light). And some parts of the leaves are starting to wilt. I am using a 20w warm and cool white florescent light. (I cannot get any higher wattage for that type of light so I am wondering if I need to go with HPS or something). Or what is causing this to happen.

Also this is a hydro system.

Your best bet is to read the sticky..

Copy and paste, answering appropriate ?'s and probably post in the hydro section. Be prepared to upgrade lights.
Good luck be safe.. :joint:

add the power to the flower.
Get brighter lights
the plants needs more juice.

try something like this, it's easy to find, cheap to own and run, and if
you ever give up growing, you can use the bulbs around the house, lol.

i've included some pics of some buds grown under these lights, lol.

justanotherbozo, i learn something new every day. wouldn't have thought floros would do such a good job. what is the wattage on those? no ballast to worry about. do they produce much heat? home depot? walmart? good job........

thanks man, and they are mostly 23 and 26 watters, they're
easy to find and cheap and, as you can see, effective, lol.

and yeah, they get plenty hot! ...if you've got the dough,
HPS is the way to go, as you'll get much deeper penetration
into your canopy but, if you're on a tight budget, you can grow
some very credible buds with nothing but CFL's, you just can't
grow full sized plants, you've got to grow budsicles, lol.

btw, when those pics were taken i was running a DWC
SOG, harvesting 1 bin every 2 weeks and averaging 1\4
lb per bin, not too shabby for some little CFL's, lol.

a couple great things about those light bars is you have so
many points of light spread out over the whole canopy,
i ran 8 bulbs or almost 200 watts per bin, which gives you
real control over the spectrum of light you provide, plus,
spreading the heat does make it easier to deal with.

you still need good fannage though, lol.

nice cfl set up man 1/4 pound every 2 weeks now thats inspirational

Rosenthal wrote a book called Buds for Less that uses cfl's he harvested 8oz for under $100 w/three plants. He wrote it as his alter ego SeeMoreBuds.

nice cfl setup you got there j a b ! i am running a 4' 4tube t5 but only for seedlings and beginning veg. does it take longer when growing with cfls or is it about the same as hid?

You could go with T5's. There compact floros and are really quite comparable to HIDS.I use one in my Veg area for smaller plants and the growth is just explosive.
