Humidity has been up to 55-60 lately so the dry took about 14 days. I like it when it takes longer. Just trimmed 2 of the CH's today. Man they smell amazing and the resin production is just awesome! The Dead Head og is gonna be awesome too. I smelled it and the OG aroma is really coming out now. I should finish up trimming either tomorrow or the day after and onto the curing process!

Such a strong grape/berry smell, same flavor on inhale and exhale plus a faint mentol/pine background. The smoke is legit. I can't wait to smoke some finished product. Good uplifting hybrid sativa high. Without the anxiety, that's a big one for me. Hope you been good. Looks like were all slowing down on here as the weather improves lol. And a few of you guys harvested :smoking:

whooooooo! man that is looking good :fire:. What amazing colors. Yes that low anxiety sativa high is what I like as well. I've been good and it looks like you have as well hahaha. Ya I've had some family come by lately so have not been able to lurk around as often, but I'll be back at it soon enough. Of course after harvest everyone has to chill out and enjoy some flowers for a while. Gotta update on the solo cup challenge tomorrow. My LSD-25 is starting to stack nicely. :smoking:

Hahahaha seems like yesterday we were both complaining about being stuck in veg yet here we are!

Your patience will reward you brotha! I know these autos are so damn fast. It's blowing my mind lol.

Well done man. The flowers look really fantastic. Crystal storm everywhere. :D
Thank you! The cure is really bringing out some amazing smells right now. Can't wait to sample in a week or so!

Alright It's been about a month since harvest I feel the cure has been going on long enough to give a decent estimate of my yield for this round. Mind you I have probably smoked about a half oz of this stuff int he last couple weeks because I ran out of my stash so the numbers are off. :D

The DeadHead OG in a 2gal maybe 2.5gal hempy alone yielded 136g or 4.86oz. Not bad at all. Cali Connections was not kidding when they said high yield.

The 4 Chocolate Hashberry's in 2 gal fabric pots yielded 299g or 10.68oz. On average each plant yielded 74g or 2.67oz. That being said the runt in the back right corner was far smaller than the other 3 CH's so keep that in mind.

I am very happy with this run considering I took a long break. I yielded a total of 15.53oz or 435g. That puts my GPW for this run at .725g per watt. Not bad! I'm sure with better canopy management I could have brought the GPW higher but I'm not complaining.:smoking: Now my personal stash is back up!

Looks so tasty! I will not be lookin at my GPW too much this run as 3/4 turned on me leaving me with 1 flowering female and she was def not big enough to use the full potential of the 1000w all along being about 28"x28". But quality and knowledge is what I'm shooting for.

That being said I am currently doing a lot of reading on drying and curing. I know that's where I can make or break my harvest. If you have time soon I'd love to hear some advice on the subject! Pop in on my thread if this isn't the right place for that. Thanks again and in advance for the knowledge! I'm loving that CH!

Right on! Ya I try not to think about gpw too much as a ton of variables exist, but sometimes I get the question so I thought I would just add it in. Quality and knowledge over yield is always far better!

The dry/cure is definitely important. You want the drying area to preferably be dark and on the cooler side on temperature. The idea is so that the flowers can dry slowly over the next 7-14 days and start to break down a portion of the chlorophyll to smooth out the smoke. If you dry too fast the flowers may end up harsh as the process is halted. If you dry too slow you risk mold developing. The cure is kind of like and extended dry in a sense. Instead of just letting your flowers dry to a crisp you put them in the jar or some type of container before that happens to keep a certain level of moisture so that the rest of the chlorophyll breaks down and the smoke smooths out. I typically open the jar once a day for an hour so the moisture can be released. When the jar/container is closed helps the moisture bleed out of the flowers and they become more consistent. The length of time I open the jars for depends on the amount of moisture left over in the flowers. Once again too dry inside the jars and you halt the process. Too wet and you risk developing mold.

That's my 2 cents on it anyways. I hope that helped a bit.

Amen to that brother. The trick to it is a slow cure. At a decent humdity. I have had hay weed and awesome weed and the difference is in the cure. :D
Exactly! In my experience so far if it smells like hay there are a few factors that can contribute to it.

A) It was dried to fast
B) It had too much leftover Nitrogen
C) It was harvested too early so the terps did not mature fully

Most of the time it's A alone. Sometimes B and C can play a side role as well in my opinion.

True I guess my common sense failed me on that one lol...thank you much chief...so which do you prefer if I remember correctly you tried trimmings wet for the first time recently right?

I have yet to try wet trimming.
I hang the plant whole, and wet trimming I would lose many trichomes working through the bush on my hands arms etc.

I leave the fan leaves on to help slow down the drying time. Once done hang drying whole. It's easier to cut off a whole branch at a time then hold the branch to avoid contact with any trichomes. Then you can carefully trim the whole branch while preserving the resin on the buds.

Minimizing your resin losses can equate to higher potency in a way

You could wet trim single branches. Then hang to dry. But then you lose the advantage of slow drying your plant whole.

Ok gotcha....I was gonna do mines the same way hanging the whole plant....and you didnt remove any of the big fan leave either? in that case how long would it take to dry, leaves and all in an environment that stays at 50rh and 70 for temp?

That's tough to say.

My environment was always low rh% (%1-%10) so my hang drying goes quick (5-7 days). But it would be slower than if i was wet trimming.

I would say you would need to experiment with your local conditions. Then you could adjust from grow to grow. Its hard to give answers when they can be so dynamic.

If you hang it whole and untrimmed you will find out how long the maximum drying time would take for your environment.

And yes big fan leaves stayed on.
