Me too brother. I am not a fan of agendas.

But the info I am arguing with was way before he had any agenda other than growing better pot than was available at the time. And knowing how and why.

But man his products sound snake- oilier than a super thrive label. Lol.

I used to think mine was till I started vegging longer. The next improvement was keeping them healthy til they are done.

There was another old guy ... probably older than ed... he tells me every time i see him..."plants have to be vegged out past node 5 in order to get full mature bud"

Still waiting for him to prove it... he got pm last year and dunked 30 pound of weed in h202 to "get rip of the pm"

^he read that shit from another one of his pot books hahaha... those damn pot books.

Some of the best weed I ever smoked was grown out here by an old man. He is positive it is because he hangs the whole 14' plants upside down in his barn and the extra thc in the roots and branches all flows to the buds.

His good friend with the same clones doesn't do that and his weed sucks.

And the friends weed does suck so who could tell him he is wrong. Lol.

this is jmo but I LIKE short bush but that is bc I can only grow so tall before they pass the light and by doing that lose light and don't grow as well as stuff under the light of course

but I think it all comes down to top top n more tops short plants with tons of tops vs tall plants with small amount of tops still lots of tops lol tops oh did I for get to say tops lol

That just comes down to genetics probably. Same dude could veg same strain for 12 weeks and see a much dif terp profile and bud densities. Mature longer vegged plants def show different growth characteristics then a 12/12 from seed of the same strain.not to mention larger plants and rootmass has a easier time dealing with environmental issues like over/under feeding and lack of water,high temps ect.i have run my cuts from rooted to bloom and they aint the same at all as the plants that get 10 weeks veg and a 10 gallon pot lol.

That would be the exact opposite of what others say...some say its harder to keep a older plant healthy till flip

A theory that i have heard is long veg times run the risk of growing into the next season.. heat/temp flux and humidy all change... short veg times will allow you to veg and flower all in one season... the terp profile will broaden with the broadening of environmental conditions. This doesnt work with sealed rooms but its proven in non sealed rooms.... a summer run is completely different than a winter run(color,smell....) if you have ever run clones for years.

I have still taken my buddies seeds from his 5 pound plants and murdered his bud with some 30 inch sogs.

I have cuts that i been running for over 7 years now and have run them any way one could imagine. The bigger/older,the better.anytime i push my mk into flower early because I have a open slot that plant performs below average for me.
I dont buy into the keeping plants healthy longer is tougher camp,unlsss you suck bad at growing whats the difference. My shit @ week 14 veg gets the same feeds as week 4 , 1 tsp per gal per day whether they need it or not lol.

Anyhow its a good topic.new growers should flower healthy plants asap or they may just kill em first haha.
Experienced growers should try a few longer vegged plants and see for themselves,imo they are much different.

I would agree... big plants are not hard.... but some say it is. People push nutes to hard then one bad ph and they think they have a deficiency. ..then they try and dump more crap in the roots... less is definitely more with pot plants.

I especially like sogs with new patients looking for that one key med...... i can get in and out of a whole bunch of strains faster than waiting 3 months to veg a plant then the patient says... thats not for me

Bigger isn't always better in my opinion. The other buds in the room that weren't as big were better quality throughout the entire bud.
Btw, that bud was grown without bottled nutrients in super soil. I believe what ever strain you have is the main factor besides habitat and light which determines how much THC you will have on the inside of a packed bud. Many variations don't produce a ton of tricomes in the middle of a giant bud. In fact the same plant with smaller buds surrounding it were better quality. I know I said I wouldn't be back but I had a big bud there to post for ya and sometimes seeing is believing. If you're growing buds the size of legs you may know what I'm talking about.

That's a nice bud! I have grown buds that size before but I didn't like the quality. My buds don't get that big anymore but I do have better genetics now. That is a nice looking bud you got there!

Yeah better genetics help with that, but here's a pic of a smaller plant same genetics. Same room.

Ever notice that lower shaded buds are frostier like the one showed here?

I have learned to lower the plant away from the light a bit during ripening. (Raise if neccesary I use stands and fixed lighting.) Now the bigger top buds have the same quality as the lowers. The lights burn off trichomes at the intensity it takes to grow huge buds.

Everything is balance in my opinion.

And longer vegged plants definitely have more potency possible and always have better structure and less stretch for me. Regardless of genetics.
