What I noticed is that I live in a bi-polar state. We can need heat and Ac all in 1 day. And that creates rh shifts.I concur with you on this. :) I have and I live in very arid conditions have slow dried whole plants at 65% Rh for almost 21 days and then jarred them for cure. As long as R keeps the Rh factor above 60% and has small air movement all will be well. Just needs to be sure no air blowing directly on buds.
So what i noticed, was that times and conditions change and certain months require different setups, and techniques.
My best yet, and I shit you not, was from drying in my 4x8 tent (hung single cola branches)with a 4" fan blowing up thru a milkcrate with a wet towel draped over it... Was around 60% and would drop to about 50% when towel would dry. I wet the towel 3 times a day. prob 2 weeks.. I let it dry till it was crispy, then jarred it for 24 hrs/ then laid it out on the kitchen table for 6 hrs/ put it back in jars for 2 weeks...
I agree on the 60%, and hanging whole would be his only option.
