I took a scary fall this time down in the canyon. In places the trails going into the canyon are very steep, steeper than normal stairs. Jagged rocks, cactus and gnarled cedars are there to slow your 500' descent.
I had dismounted to get under low cedars, holding branches out of the way. I was well below my horse, on one of the few level spots, about the size of a kitchen chair. I was looking at a 5' drop, followed by a switch back and another 4' drop, when my horse started to slide. I scrambled, but couldn't get out of the way.
The horse stopped on the same little shelf I'd been on. A thousand pounds slammed into me, sending off the edge backwards. I was clawing at thin air, as my feet passed between me and the midday sun. I completed my flip, and slick leather soles hit the trail 12' below. Somehow, I had kept hold of one 8' rein, and was scrambling for traction. I reached out with my right hand, for anything to stop myself, and grabbed a cholla cactus. As much as that sucked, I was glad it was there.
I took a minute to pull the worst of the spines, and climbed back up to my horse. She was still teetering three legged, on the little shelf, shaking as bad as I was. I discussed the situation with my shaky horse, and we decided that she was in charge of walking. So, I mounted up, and we slid down the canyon wall as one.
Other than some mean road rash, colorful bruises & a couple dozen broken spines still buried in my hand, I'm okay. If I hadn't grabbed a handful of cactus, they'd be burying me today.
A young guy that came with wasn't so lucky, even though he stayed on the bottom of the canyon. His horse zigged, and he zagged. He landed in the rocks and cholla cactus, breaking his right arm. He had to be hauled out for xrays and a cast.
Glad you are ok. Like you said, could have been a game ender. Good karma on your next ride man.

Respect. One day at a time.

Look guys, heres an article detailing what the peace loving communist protesters brought (and had confiscated) to a pro trump rally in portland.

Time to lock and load...........
That's the HipsterProtesterValuePackIII, selling outside starbucks, usually by smallish men in girl jeans. They abbreviate it HPV, and you can also look for the man-buns, confused looks, unkempt appearance, and of course, you are going to catch them in the midst of being offended. Even in the warm weather, just listen for the sound of snowflakes. You have to pay extra to get the card that tells you what to be offended by. It's like a daily calendar.

Have been since two elections ago.

me too..........

And you know, I support the right of any AMERICAN citizen to protest, peacably, about any fucking thing that pisses em off. I also reserve the right to make fun of them. at no time would it be ok for anyone (in my mind) to attack someone physically for their beliefs.

These little pussies, with their masks and backpacks full of shit they mix up using the anarchists cookbook, need their fucking teeth kicked in, for infringing on the rights of AMERICAN citizens who would either show support for, or air grievances against perceived offending policies.

If a conservative group did same activity against a commie group, id take umbridge against that as well. This is America you sonsabitches, respect your fellow citizens and let them have their say. You can still make fun of them if they suck, but dont be throwing bricks at the guy.........for fuck sake.

This shit really pisses me off.

If'n we weren't already locked and loaded. Guess I was early to the party :badboy:
Guess I'm old fashioned, but you go to swat me in the head with a brick and I'll revert back to my training, i.e. double tap to center mass. Repeat as necessary.
I like your style lol

Good morning OFC. How ya be today ? Hope the sun shines on your behind and the skies are not cloudy all day. Coffee sure tastes good this morning. But somethings missing, oh yeah I remember now, we need a bowl of medicinal herb to go along with the coffee. That means it`s "wake n bake" time in Curmudgeonland. Here we go, puffin n passin'.

Good morning.
Beautiful sunny day. Now to burn one and water the veggies. Then shower and work in the grow rooms.
It never ceases to amaze me that people still want clones for out door this late in the year. Muther fuckers think I can root clones over night.
