Well im not exactly new, BUT today I traded in my waterfarm Rdwc system for
a current culture system...
I am so excited to see the power of the UC that I have heard about..
I got a brand new chiller for it still in the box...

Anyway Ive ran rdwc but never the UC..
I figure there might be some getting used too..
I heard that I will def be running less EC than before..
I also run c02 so I guess I might have a learning curve ahead of me...

I dont really have no questions, I just been waiting a long time to say,

IM IN THE UC CLUB FINALLY..
This is like when you trade in the Honda for a Harley!

Welcome to the UC club! Best advice I can give is to hunt out and read all of desertsquirrel's threads. They were my bible when I got started in UC. In fact, they should still be sticky threads, they are that useful.

Thanks bro... Im attacking this like I attacked my first grow..
Ive grown for a year in a recirculating waterfarm,
but i know this is a lil different...
And using current culture nutes for the first time..
All ive used is GH 3 part
And GH flora 2 part..
and the rest of the
GH line of additives...

So there is a few new things for me...
lol,
not to mention this my first run with c02...
But these our the kind of problems I like to have!

Im reading some old threads with you in them!

Im about to be on my second run with UC with the full line CS nuets, one thing i will say is this next run I'm probably going to use their nutrients at about 75-80% strength of what they recommend, definitely got some tip/leaf burning last time. Also if you look at their general recommendations some of their suggestions are a bit ridiculous.. at week 5/6 of flower it says temp should be 61F at night.. I tried to follow all of their charts to a T and it worked but seemed to be a bit above and beyond.. Probably going to just step their recommendations back a tad and see what happens.. I replied to your post in another thread as well..

I'll just reply to your other post in this thread to keep it more organized.

Right now I'm using 2x 600w hps/mh(sealed hoods) but really want to make the switch to 2x 630 de cmh from growers choice.. been hearing so much good stuff about cmh..
Yep co2 as well, fully sealed room with a/c Dehu etc..
This will be my 3rd cycle by myself and second cycle with the UC, so almost a year. I did 2-3 cycles on a diy RDWC like 8 years ago..

Definitely will stay here, been looking for a good growing forum and just found this RDWC/UC section and seems like a perfect fit for me..

Awesome! Yes this is the place for you!
Well I think we are about in the same boat..
I got a year of indoor growing under my belt. I have ran about 5 runs in rdwc, each one getting better.
My last grow I ran diy rdwc sudo waterfarms..
both of my runs from last run...

As for system Im sealed too,
c02,
dehuey,
Ac..
The differeance being im running (3) 600 hps in a 4x8 tent, inside a grow room that is temp/rh/c02 controlled with my autopilot Environmental controller..
My biggest limiting factor is height.
6'

So I will be scrogging most likely... I got a pheno run im running right now in coco dtw..
Grab my mother up, and we be rocking and rolling in no time!

Glad to have you aboard brother!
Welcome to the Farm!

Didn't think about it being less stable w/o the rockwool but that's a good point and I will definitely keep an eye on that.

Pre vegging/cloning is something I thought about a lottt and I never really came up with a solid method. The disadvantage of using one of those solo pro's from UC is say 5 of your clones are doing great but that 6th is way behind.. well how are you going to fill that last spot? But if you use a flood&Drain table you can put 12 clones down and then select the 6 best to begin flower.. right now I'm just using my turbo cloner and trying to get them as big as I can in there before transplanting to the UC.

Yes I agree, that can be a negative..
Im actually gonna buy a 4x4 flood table and put a piece of 1" foam board over it and cut as many 8" net pot holes as possible, then another piece with just 6 holes at 8"..
So start 10 and keep the best 6,
put the 6 hole top on and veg...
root pruning and using beneficial bacteria in that will aid in really fast root growth!
I also take double topped cuttings so I start out with 2 tops :)

2 weeks later from cutting

This was my first attempt.. Im a lot better now, they never yellow.. I use rooting solution made for aero cloners by clonex..

Wow 6' ceilings yea that's low, be careful with how long you veg(I'm sure you already know), I vegd my last run for 4 weeks and man I should've only done 2 haha..

Sounds like a perfect idea, I might end up copying that when I get more set up..

I'm using clonex solution & orca (great white liquid form) in my turbo cloner. Was using CS veg A+B and cococal at first then realized it was way too strong and made the switch..

how long have those been in the cloner?
was all those taken at the same time?
If they were then i see what you mean about different sizes..
are these the seeds you said you started and then put in the cloner?
What is the lil brown cube things i see in the middle of the foam inserts?
rockwool?

They have been in there about a month, started from seed. When I switched to the orca and clonex solution about 2 weeks ago they really took off. The 2 super small ones actually almost died, their stems bent and got super weak right after the shell popped off and I basically cut the stem 1" below the leafs and put the stem in the clone collar and they completely re-rooted themselves..
The little brown thing your seeing is a hydroton ball haha.. I cut out some of the clone collar so that I wouldn't crush the tap root when I put the super small seedlings in there. I then transferred them all to regular collars after they were big enough and I had to turn the collars I cut upside down and put a hydroton ball in or else a tiny bit of water comes up out of the collar.. I'm getting more collars soon.. lol.

Im reading some old threads with you in them!

I tried Advanced Nutrients my first grow and it was a disaster. I then went to H&G and did about 7 successful grows with them. Then I was gifted the whole CS line and that's what I've been using my last 3 grows. While the H&G did well, I can see a big difference with the CS. Bigger, frostier buds and much more stable. I'm still using the H&G Drip Clean to control salts and diluted bleach as my sterilizing agent instead of UC Roots. That's mainly because I'm cheap. A liter bottle of Drip Clean costs about $35 and will last at least 4 grows in my UC8XL system where I'd need a gallon of UC Roots, at about $70, each grow. I also run a CO2 burner. Follow CCs recommendations on cutting back CO2 near the end. If not, the buds tend to stay a bit loose.

Yes, I had quite a few questions/issues when I first started and got a lot of good advice here. There is a learning curve with these systems, especially if you came from soil as I did. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

No problem, and thanks! I never grew nothing in soil till every one here kept doing it. So I bought a bag and grew out 5 lil damn things in som ffof...
I thought it to be comparable to caveman rubbing rocks together to make fire to ward off the wolves :(

No im a hydro to the bone and i ran coco, f+d, and dwc, and the waterfarm recirculating 8 bucket unit. Im familiar with maintaining a res..
All that will be the easy part..
The hard part will be following that wacky chart that cc has... the c02 goes down as you come in to flower. now I can understand at the end, but start at week 1 dropping it? doesnt make sense to me? Now I follow vpd right now, so i can hit the numbers i need to but ive been under the beleif that i matched Ec and c02 ppm till last 2 weeks? Do you follow it to a t?
